Universal Engineering Sciences Project Manager in West Sacramento, California
Universal Engineering Sciences is looking for a highly qualified Project Manager to join our growing Construction Services Department.
Starting at $25/hour
*Salary is negotiable, depending on experience, skillset, and certifications.
General Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with project team
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior UES staff
Actively engage in at least 2 professional organizations, with a leadership role in 1
Perform when needed: field testing and inspections, or other billable field work, to maintain adequate individual utilization
Maintain and add new (as needed) professional certifications
Assist branch or department manager in the interview process for potential candidates
Business Development Responsibilities:
Participate in BD events regularly as requested by branch or sales team
Attend regularly scheduled branch BD meetings
Assist with client contact and follow-up as requested by sales team
Collaborate with BD team to prepare proposals, including defining project scope, budget estimates, and manpower
Pre-Construction Phase Responsibilities:
Review and approve project setup checklist, including validation of project budget
Responsible to review and understand project documents including but not limited to: plans, specifications, budget, schedule, manpower, project assumptions, and contact requirements
Attend Pre-Con meetings to discuss inspection schedule, frequency of testing, project specifications, special jurisdictional requirements, and nonconformance procedures
Schedule a project kick-off meeting with project team and laboratory manager to establish the conditions for project success
Construction Phase Responsibilities:
Visit project site regularly
Ensure field inspectors are following and representing company safety policies (or Field Supervisor or Quality Manager in a larger branch)
Responsible for budget control, including review and approval of change orders
Act as the main point of contact for all project communications including but not limited to: budget, schedule, quality assurance, RFI responses and accuracy of technical daily field reports and lab results
Address client's questions and concerns regarding UES deliverables including but not limited to: daily field reports, technical memorandums, lab results and budget
Responsible to review daily field reports to ensure all field technician and inspector activities comply with the requirements set by the applicable building code and project plans and specifications
Notify clients on all non-conforming work in accordance with client, company, and regulatory agency requirements
Responsible to review and approve project invoices
Work directly with department managers/branch managers on collecting outstanding invoices over 30 days
Ensures excellent customer service to clients and partners
Takes ownership and resolves issues in a timely manner
Effectively and professionally represents the company to internal and external audiences
Post Construction Phase Responsibilities:
Lead project close-out in a timely manner
Ensure noncompliance/nonconformances have been resolved
Review and approve final report package, including all project inspection and laboratory reports and/or jurisdiction having authority (JHA, DSA, HCAI, if required) for delivery to the client upon project completion
Ensure project contract requirements have been met
Responsible to review project profitability with branch manager and identify areas of improvement
Collaborate with CSG to complete a project profile
