Ozarks Medical Center CSC Peer Support Specialist in West Plains, Missouri
The individual in this role will serve each client at Ozarks Healthcare Crisis Stabilization Center by providing support and education around self-management of psychiatric illness, stability goal achievement; as well as, organizing and directing peer support activities. The focus of OZH-CSC is to provide urgent care psychiatric services to our seven county catchment area. The goals of our center include: rapid access to psychiatric and therapeutic services, development of integrated health services, reduce burden on local ERs and law enforcement for behavioral health crisis, and increase availability of psychiatric beds. The CSC will strive to assist in stabilizing the individual by utilizing both nursing and behavioral supports offered on a time-limited basis.

Current valid driver’s license
Clear or acceptable motor vehicle record
Knowledge and Experience Requirements:
An individual with lived mental health experience and/or in recovery from addiction who has found stability in their mental health treatment
An individual with the ability and self-knowledge to manage their mental illness in order to adequately and safely help others
Prefer a general understanding of mental health diagnosis and treatment
Understands how to coordinate community services
Education Level:
High School Diploma, GED or higher
Licenses and/or Certifications Required:
Certified Missouri Peer Specialist (Obtained through the training and certification test set by the Missouri Department of Mental Health)
Annual NetLearning and Relias training
Completion and maintenance of SAFE training
Completion and maintenance of BLS training
Class E driver’s license
Communication:
Must have the ability to communicate effectively, written, and verbally
Must be able to de-escalate a variety of audiences, including frustrated, angry, or otherwise emotional individuals.
Must be comfortable talking to clients about difficult subjects such as suicide
