Job Overview:
The Practice Manager will oversee the day to day management of assigned practice locations, oversee office activities and staff to ensure that optimal patient care is given in accordance with Barnabas Health Medical Group policies and procedures in a courteous, timely and efficient manner. He/she will be responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors.
Qualifications:
Required:
Willingness to travel to sub-specialty practices required
Minimum of two-three years of management experience in a primary care or multi-specialty setting, required
Must be well versed in interdisciplinary practice environments, with knowledge and experience in patient registration, billing, management of front-end staffing settings
Process management ability to effectively coordinate the efforts of professional and support staff with proven experience in conflict resolution and team development
Demonstrated understanding of healthcare fiscal management
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with EHR Systems and software applications
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts, Business Management or other related discipline, preferred Appropriate experience may be substituted for educational requirements
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Healthcare management experience is highly preferred
Scheduling Requirements
Shift: Day
Status: Full-Time (40.00 hrs.)
Time: 8:00a.m. 4:30p.m. (Shift may vary)
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Essential Functions:
Oversees the daily operations of the practice including staff management, practice productivity, financial deposits, physician and patient scheduling and budget development
The manager ensures that policies and procedures are implemented promptly and efficiently while working collaboratively with Senior Management and Internal Stakeholders to ensure the practice meets overall performance and satisfaction expectations in order to achieve an excellent patient experience.
Assists in all front desk duties, answers telephones and schedules appointments
Obtains and enters patient and insurance information; maintains charts
Verifies insurance eligibility; post and collect charges and payments and print receipts
Follows through on all customer requests and inquiries in a timely fashion
Maintains positive relationships with all customers, employees, physicians, patients, visitors, and guests
Assures physicians licensure is current: license, CDS, DES, Malpractice Insurance, ACLS, and BLS
Maintains practice work queues or supervises designated persons
Effectively allocates and schedules resources
Able to project and appropriately staff the practices to effectively function to demand
Determines priorities and organizes work and time to meet them
Utilizes resources, both labor and non-labor to maximize efficiency and quality
Follows sound employee retention techniques; effective selection and interviewing recognition, fair and timely discipline, and ongoing performance feedback
Interacts constructively, tactfully and diplomatically with others and resolves conflicts effectively
Demonstrates cultural competency and ability to maintain a diverse workforce
Adheres to budgetary guidelines and proactively manages budget variances and causes
Review daily flow sheets, make deposits, and check posting, billing and coding
Update staff on coding changes and inputs changes in computer
Coordinates patient care with affiliating health members
Gathers information for special testing
Coordination of physician schedules and entering PTO, CME, Seminars, Meetings on bi-weekly payroll time sheets with back-up documentation as per compliance regulations
Assures that the office complies with all requirements of OSHA that apply to practice and that all employees are trained in proper procedures and are following the regulations
Keeps physical properties of office in good state of repair, monitors the security policies of office, and reports status to Regional Operations Manager
