Job Description:
- Candidate shall have a minimum of one year of experience in direct patient care; however, more years of experience may be rated stronger than another candidate.
- Prior VA experience may be considered a strength.
- Strong candidates, with higher and/or better references and with less experience may be considered.
License:
- The physician shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property.
- All licenses held by the key personnel working on this contract shall be full and unrestricted licenses.
- Physician who has current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this contract.
Board Certification:
- Physician shall be Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM.org) and be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS or equivalent.
- All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must always be kept up to date.
- Documentation verifying current certification shall be provided to the VA COR on an annual basis for each year of contract performance.
Standards of Care:
The physician care shall cover the range of Gastroenterology services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized TJC, VA and national standards as established by:
- American Academy of Gastroenterology Guidelines:
- The professional standards of the Joint Commission (TJC):
- The standards of the American Hospital Association (AHA):
- Physician (as appropriate and within scope of practice/privileging) shall be responsible for providing Gastroenterology care, including, but not limited to:
- Clinic and Surgical Care: Physician shall provide clinical Gastroenterology services.
- Physician shall be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries as documented by physical presence in the clinic or operating room at the scheduled start time.
- Physician shall provide comprehensive clinical Gastroenterology services including the diagnosis and treatment of Gastroenterology disease and surgical procedures.
- Typical procedures include EGD, Colonoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound & ERCP\'s,
- The physician shall be present in the endoscopy suite for all Gastroenterology procedures.
