Cook Medical Desktop Support Specialist in West Lafayette, Indiana
Overview
The Desktop Support Specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining desktops, laptops, end user devices and software used at Cook Advanced Technologies.
Responsibilities
Ensure that desktop and laptop computer systems are properly installed, maintained and documented;
Work with computer users to troubleshoot and fix computer issues;
Work with technical support to fix or/and replace defective equipment;
Maintain system documents for all software used on machines;
Maintain accurate and complete inventory in the inventory system;
Assist staff with various projects as needed;
Have willingness/ability to contribute to all different areas in the workplace ;
Monitor compliance with the computer use policy;
Knowledge or willingness to learn PowerShell scripting;
Deploy software using SCCM ; and
Other duties as assigned by management or agreed among the team.
Qualifications
Minimum of Associates degree in computer-related discipline or equivalent experience;
3+ years experience in desktop support or similar IT support position;
Strong problem solving skills, including ability to search for information on a computer problem and develop potential solutions;
Capable of diagnosing computer problems in person, remotely, and/or via phone;
Knowledgeable about common desktop software and systems;
Ability to learn and follow applicable procedural standards and QSIs;
Excellent organizational skills and prioritizing skills;
Extreme attention to detail;
Willingness to help and learn;
Positive, encouraging, service attitude;
Work productively individually and with small groups; and
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
