Ascent Academies of Utah-West Jordan Special Education Behavior Technician in WEST JORDAN, Utah
An established charter school is now accepting applications for a Special Education Behavior Technician. This position will be at the West Jordan location. The position will be full-time. Pay will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. AAU also offers a full benefits package to those who qualify.
Ascent Academies of Utah (AAU) is a network of charter schools that provides its students with a rich and individualized academic program utilizing the successful Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM). AAU's network of schools combines SEM's research-based strategies with curriculum and instructional methods aligned to the Utah Core Curriculum in order to provide students throughout the network with engaging learning opportunities.
Shall assist with individualized assessment (i.e. curriculum-based, developmental, social skills), functional assessment, and preference assessment procedures
Shall provide direct support to students by teaching and implementing behavior interventions, as designed by the Behavior Specialist and IEP Team
Shall provide direct support to staff by introducing and modeling interventions
Shall provide direct support to students by teaching social curriculum
Shall coordinate with Behavior Specialist and school staff to implement behavior curriculum
Shall coordinate with Behavior Specialist and school staff to develop and implement intervention plans
Shall coordinate with Behavior Specialist and school staff to develop and implement crisis/safety plans
Shall track, collect data and coordinate with Behavior Specialist to help determine the effectiveness of behavior plans
Shall create and develop data graphs, and regularly update progress monitoring
Shall assist other personnel in the completion of their work activities as needed
Shall respond to emergency situations (i.e. behavior crisis, injured student, fights, seizures, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
Monitor student's attendance and disciplinary data (i.e. office referrals, suspensions, etc.)
Shall comply with applicable legal, regulatory and workplace reporting requirements (i.e. mandatory abuse and neglect reporting), as well as requirements for data collection, storage and transportation
Shall respond appropriately to feedback and maintain or improve performance accordingly
Shall maintain professional boundaries (i.e. avoid dual relationships, conflicts of interest, social media contacts)
Note: As a Behavior Technician, unless you are board certified, you may not represent yourself as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA, BCaBA). You may not practice independently of a Behavior Specialist.
Candidate must submit for and pass a background check in accordance with Utah's Department of Public Safety requirements.
