The Supervisor, Technical Application Specialist will lead the Product Support Specialist and Technical Application Specialist staff. Secondary function is to provide development teams with feedback on performance of assays in hands of customers for further product refinement. Develop in-depth and detailed technical knowledge and skills in order to provide technical support to customers, distributors and sales teams in resolving product performance problems. This includes installation, operation, training, laboratory investigation, data analysis and interpretation. Maintain a proven understanding of One Lambda’s product lines.

What will you do?

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Own the day-to-day activities of the Product Support Specialist Reagent employees and the Technical Application Specialist Reagent positions.

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and product training to the Product Support Specialist Reagent and Technical Application Specialist Reagent employees.

  • Work closely with the Technical Application Specialist Manager on all personnel issues involving those individuals under his/her direction.

  • Travel as needed both Domestically or Internationally (APAC, ME, Europe, or LATM) to support larger workshops or conferences.

  • Prepare and present reports and formal presentations to management regarding activities and results as required.

  • Assist in planning and organizing in-house and external workshops including participating as an instructor.

  • Maintain professional relationship with development teams for continuous self-training and provide teams with technical findings to supplement R&D’s continuous quality product improvement programs.

  • Gain in-depth technical knowledge and skills in one or more product families via comprehensive technical training by internal teams.

  • Provide technical support through analysis of customer data and provide expert interpretations to customers.

  • Resolve customer product performance inquiries:

  • Analyze product performance conditions and replicate end-user laboratory conditions in order to identify and isolate contributing factors to product performance failures(s).

  • Independently conduct tests and/or experiments to validate proposed solutions.

  • Communicate recommendations to end-users.

  • Perform regular troubleshooting to maintain and demonstrate mastery of technical skills and knowledge.

How will you get here?

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in the Biological Sciences

  • Min 5+ years of HLA experience

  • Must have at least two (2) years of leadership experience

  • Specific knowledge of basic immunology and molecular biology.

  • Practical bench experience in one or more of these areas strongly preferred:

  • HLA Typing by NGS (AllType and FASTPlex)

  • HLA Typing by SBT (SeCore)

  • HLA Typing by SSP (Micro SSP)

  • HLA Typing by SSO (LABType)

  • HLA Antibody Screening (LABScreen)

  • Must possess solid understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • This position interacts with several departments including product managers, project leaders, R&D scientists, laboratory staff members, sales department teams, quality and management.

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive laboratory data and business information. In addition, he/she will ensure that safe laboratory procedures and protocols are followed at all times especially in the application of universal precautions in handling of all blood and blood byproducts. All laboratory personnel are expected to notify their immediate supervisors of any unsafe conditions and/or practices and to take appropriate corrective action.

  • Exercise independent discretion and judgment in execution of his/her duties. Plan and organize oneself in a reliable and consistent manner.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to lead by example and be available to his/her staff on-site at our West Hills facility.

  • Supervise and maintain training of direct report staff.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with management, staff members and third parties (customers and vendors). Must maintain high professional corporate image at all times with third parties.

  • Laboratory setting working with human blood and/or tissue products. Regularly sit in front of monitor utilizing PC for data input and/or analysis.

  • Extended phone discussions with customers and channel partners.
