What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this role you will, under the direction of the site Electrical Maintenance Manager in the Utilities department, the Electrical Apprentice assists in the performance of electrical system operation and maintenance activities throughout the ARI site.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the Amgen Licensed Electricians on daily routine Electrical work

  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of backup power / emergency power generation systems and Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS).

  • Perform basic troubleshooting and assist with repair of electrical equipment and systems.

  • Support operation and maintenance of Building Fire Alarm systems including assisting with operation of the system and troubleshooting activities.

  • Interpret and update loop sheets, electrical schematics, P&ID's, I/O wiring, and panel drawings.

  • Ensure activities are accomplished in a safe manner.

  • Identify waste, workflow interrupters, and other opportunities for improvement, recommend solutions, and assisting with implementation.

Shift: Admin Shift 6:45A – 3:00P (The shift will change to a 12hour rotating day or night shift per Amgen’s discretion once apprenticeship has been completed)

Basic Qualifications:

Associate’s degree

OR

High school diploma / GED and 2 years of electrical maintenance experience

OR

Certification that is directly related to the role and 2 years of electrical maintenance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of combined education, training, and experience in industrial electric operations and maintenance and instrumentation/measurement and controls

  • Ability and desire to work to obtain Rhode Island Class M Electrician License

  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas through verbal and written form

  • Effective computer skills

  • Ability to interact constructively with peers/teams

  • Receptive to guidance and technical advice from others

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
