Description
Robert Half is partnering with a prominent insurance company in Des Moines in their search for an Investment Accountant. In this role, you will be working in the insurance industry, specifically within the Investment Reporting and Analysis team of the Corporate Accounting Division. You will be responsible for a range of tasks including the preparation of investment reports, maintenance of the investment accounting system and other investment accounting duties.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare annual, quarterly, and monthly internal and external investment statements and reports.
• Maintain the investment accounting system and ensure its accuracy and efficiency.
• Conduct cash flow projections for investment decisions.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and handle complex work assignments within the team.
• Collaborate with employees across the organization to ensure smooth operations and clear communication.
• Analyze and manage investment databases to aid in decision-making processes.
• Utilize skills in Investments, Derivatives, Fixed Income Portfolio, Statutory Accounting Principles, GAAP - STAT, and GAAP Accounting to perform tasks efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in the investment accounting process.
• Resolve customer inquiries related to investment accounting in a timely and professional manner.
• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action when necessary.
Requirements • Demonstrable experience in the insurance industry, particularly in life insurance
• Proven knowledge of investment strategies and financial markets
• Expertise in handling derivatives and fixed income portfolios
• Familiarity with statutory accounting principles and GAAP - STAT
• Proficiency in GAAP accounting
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating investment performance and risk
• Excellent communication skills for presenting complex financial information
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High degree of professionalism and ethical standards
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred
• Relevant certifications such as Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant will be an advantage
