As a Product Technician, you will perform in-process testing and inspections, audit pre-start and start-up processes, and assist with factory acceptance tests and final inspections. Responsibilities include conducting machine demonstrations for observers, providing technical support for testing and commissioning at customer locations, and offering improvement recommendations based on test results and observations.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Operate machines and use specialized testing equipment.

  • Audit electrical and mechanical pre-start and start-up processes, addressing root causes of failures.

  • Conduct machine function testing, ensuring quality and functionality, while aiding in continuous improvement and standardization efforts.

  • Perform and document various machine tests, including paint, torque, oil contamination, sound, and cab inspections.

  • Track and update machine build progress electronically, completing shift reports and filing necessary documents.

  • Collaborate with customers, engineers, and teams on-site or at customer locations to ensure machine quality and resolve issues.

  • Create and maintain technical documents, defect records, and compliance manuals.

  • Use software tools like Word, Excel, R-view, Outlook, and Teams effectively.

  • Ensure safety during machine testing and maintain calibration records for test equipment.

  • Meet tight deadlines, work overtime, and produce video documentation for customers as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma.

  • Experience:

  • Basic understanding of the Jupiter control system, with advancement to an advanced level within 12 months.

  • B-class proficiency or higher in a preferred discipline, with progression to A-class in the preferred discipline and B-class in a secondary discipline within 36 months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education/Experience:

  • College training or degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

  • 3-5 years of familiarity with Harsco Rail products.

  • Interpersonal Skills:

  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical data.

  • Strong writing and presentation skills.

  • Effective communication to address issues and discrepancies with engineering and customers.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Computer literacy.

  • Strong mathematical skills.

  • Other Skills:

  • Proficient in planning and organizing pre-start, start-up, and QA team activities.

  • Commitment to safety for self and team members.

  • Trained in track safety (FRA card required).
