Synchrony VP, Acquisition Fraud Strategy in West Chester, Ohio

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

This role is responsible for leading a team in Credit Acquisition Strategy to address losses coming from True Name Fraud (TNF), Malicious/Synthetic Customers, Consumer Deposits, and Merchant Risk. The successful candidate will balance these four significant focus areas to deliver results.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Lead a team of Credit and Fraud strategy professionals to identify and create the most effective means to protect Synchrony Financial, its clients and customers from Fraud and malicious Credit losses

  • Work cross functionally with the platform and portfolio teams to understand specific client needs regarding TNF and Malicious accounts

  • Work directly with Synchrony's Consumer Bank Credit leader to ensure smart growth within the deposit product lines

  • Manage the Merchant Risk process for small merchant including merchant onboarding, merchant dispute monitoring, and merchant risk management (freezing funds, shutting down high risk merchants)

  • Prepare and deliver client facing and leadership team presentations to facilitate informed decisions around TNF, Malicious Customers and Consumer Deposits

  • Drive enhanced strategies, using champion/challenger leanings to manage credit and fraud risk

  • Stay on top of emerging trends in the ever-changing Fraud and Credit space

  • Use influencing skills to get buy-in for initiatives with portfolio leaders, SVP, Credit Acquisition, the Chief Credit Officer and other senior leaders

  • Work closely with the SVP, Enterprise Fraud to align with enterprise wide fraud guidelines

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years in consumer risk management, credit management, or similar role, or in lieu of a bachelor's degree, 12+ years in consumer risk management, credit management, or similar role

  • 4+ years' leadership experience in fraud management, credit strategy development or consumer deposits

  • 3+ years' experience working with SAS, SQL, or other similar data analytic tools

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong leadership capability and presence, experience managing professional teams

  • Excellent influencing skills

  • Use of advanced technical and analytical competencies in driving effective strategic goals within a significant functional area

  • Master's Degree or MBA with advanced analytic focus, or equivalent

Grade/Level: 14

The salary range for this position is 170,000.00 - 290,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
