FTE: 0.500000 Shift: Shift 1 Job Summary: The AP Dietitian is a credentialed specialist or expert in a narrow practice area with the ability to direct initiatives for quality and process improvement and protocol development. The AP dietitian is distinguished by completing necessary practice hours, successfully completing a national credentialing exam and maintaining education requirements to provide expert-level practice in the clinic setting. Alternatively, an AP dietitian may demonstrate top-of-scope practice by placing feeding tubes, following set training and successful completion of a tube placement competency. Under minimal supervision, the Advanced Practice (AP) Clinical Dietitian provides medical nutrition therapy and/or diabetes self-management education to patients, individuals or groups for nutrition-related problems, chronic disease management and/or, prevention and well-being identified through referral, provider consult, nutrition screening or standards of care. The AP dietitian is responsible for asses sing, planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, discontinuing and documenting the nutrition plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team when warranted. This individual demonstrates competency and adheres to inpatient or clinic specific protocols and workflows to deliver care. The AP dietitian participates in compliance and quality improvement efforts to improve nutrition care provided throughout the organization. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: A minimum of three years of experience in direct patient care is required. Must currently hold a specialty credential and/or demonstrate additional clinical skill such as feeding tube placement as part of clinical scope and practice. Acute care or hospital-based clinical nutrition work is preferred. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition program is required. Completion of an ACEND approved internship or coordinated undergraduate program is required. LICENSURE DESCRIPTION: Current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is required. Current RDN must also be a State of Wisconsin Certified Dietitian or show proof of application for certification within 60 days of hire or transfer. Current RDN must be competent in placing feeding tubes and/or holds and maintains a National Certification in a Dietetics Specialty that is relevant to patient population served, including: Board Certified Specialist in: Gerontological Nutrition (CSG), Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM), Oncology Nutrition (CSO), Renal Nutrition (CDR), Sports Dietetics (CSSD), Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), Certified Clinical Transplant Dietitian (CTTD), Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), Certified Advanced Cystic Fibrosis Dietitian (CACFD), Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS), CDR Advanced Practice Certification (AP),. The certification must be directly related to the assignment being filled.
