Position Title: Senior Application Engineer

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week

Summary of Duties: Review Customer specifications, technical and commercial documents, and product requirements. Identify and define preliminary scope of work for a complete solutions that fits the Customer specifications. Prepare technical configurations for the Electrical products using Siemens tools and collaborate with Engineers within the Business Unit to generate technical solutions for the Siemens suite of products including, but not limited to, low voltage motor control centers, compact modular reclosers, distribution switches, medium voltage switchgear, medium voltage circuit breakers, power monitoring, power quality, and protective relays. Prepare 2D layout drawings at a minimum, or in some cases, 3D drawings to demonstrate the idea of the intended solution/scope of work. Design an application of electrical distribution products and power systems/power delivery. Prepare RFQ packages for third party products and work closely with Procurement team to secure the quotations. Coordinate with suppliers, contractors/EPC, and major stakeholders for seamless integration of project and its deliverables. Prepare and review Engineering documents, single line diagrams, GA’s, equipment layouts, Bill of Material (BOM), PEC/PDC/E-House layout, relay P&C schemes, schematics, and communication network diagrams. Perform various calculations as per project requirements, such as AC/DC load calculations, battery sizing. Perform quote evaluations of all the quotations received and make technical recommendations to the design and the vendor choices. Develop the cost model for the quotation and secure approvals from the senior management. Prepare Customer-facing proposal packages for the complete scope of work. Engage in Customer discussions by supporting the Business Development and Sales teams. Work closely with the PMO team for an efficient and effective handover of the project from the Bid Phase to the Project execution phase, upon winning the project.

Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered, or as a System Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer, Application Engineer, or an acceptable alternate occupation. Alternatively, the position requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered, or as a System Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer, Application Engineer, or an acceptable alternate occupation. The position requires experience with the following: design and application of medium voltage electrical distribution products and power systems/power delivery; evaluating and knowledge of relay P&C schemes, schematics, communication network diagrams; ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for power distribution applications; ability to analyze customer’s technical documentation to meet the customers’ expectations in cost-effective and timely manner; basic financial knowledge; ability to identify market trends; PC skills, including Microsoft Office tools and product configuration/pricing applications; Electrical and 2D Layout drawing tools, such as AutoCad, Visio, etc.; ability to read and understand electrical single line diagrams and schematics.
