SALARY RANGE

Communications Lineman Trainee: Starting wage is $32.23 per hour.

Communications Helper: Starting wage is $30.93 per hour.

Probationary Period: New employees holding regular positions must complete an introductory period of twelve months.

This position will be filled at the Communications Lineman Trainee or Communications Helper level, contingent upon the experience of the selected applicant. 

Chelan PUD is seeking a Communications Lineman Trainee or Communications Helper to join its Fiber group. 

Overview

The Communications Helper, under the direction of the Superintendent, Foreman or Journeyman, assist district fiber crews with labor support for the installation and splicing of fiber optic cables and equipment. Gather, transport and deliver tools and equipment. Perform routine care and maintenance of equipment and vehicles.

Responsibilities

Provide labor support to fiber crew. Gather and prepare tools and materials and deliver to crews. Returns tools and materials to storage locations and accounts for materials used. Loads and unloads tools, materials and equipment used in maintenance and construction at work sites.

Transport and deliver material and equipment to and from various work locations.

Wash and clean District vehicles. Report condition problems to fleet services.

Assist with maintaining a safe and neat work site area.

Perform daily equipment inspections and maintain accurate records.

Perform special projects, as needed such as sorting spare parts, arranging for surplus of parts and equipment, making proper labels for non stock items and gathering data on field deployed equipment.

Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this
