Valero Production Specialist - Ethanol Plant in WELCOME, Minnesota
Description:
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of water treatment and supporting production team. Assist with maintaining efficiency via optimization, standardization, procedure development, ordering chemicals and ROQ training. Ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the Company.
- Understands VRF Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Leads and drive water treatment projects to completion. Develop project plans, justify project requests, and prepare for all project work.
- Drives work planning and scheduling activities to the execution level via collaboration with Production Manager, Shift Supervisors, and the maintenance team.
- Maintains all documentation of water treatment process, including chemical additions, SOP’s, environmental parameters and compliance.
- Oversees long-term water quality and chemistry across the plant operations.
- Develops operator knowledge and skills in key areas such as plant operations and safe work policies/practices via training, mentoring, and operator qualification process.
- Fills in for Production Manager, Lead Production Specialist, and Shift Supervisors as required.
- Assists with the PSM program including car seal program management, MOC's and action items.
- Communicates daily with plant team members regarding operational philosophies and any changes that have occurred; document changes in processes, as appropriate.
This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED required.
* Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Engineering, Chemistry or related field preferred.
* A minimum of five years of general work experience that includes at least three years of operational experience required.
* Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
* Able and willing to work on-site and in-person required.

Valero's Welcome ethanol plant is located near Welcome, Minnesota, about four miles west of Fairmont and 100 miles southwest of Minneapolis. The bio-refinery sits on approximately 300 acres and started ethanol production in June 2009. The facility uses a dry-grind production method and state-of-the-art technology to maintain industry-leading standards in production, safety, product quality and environmental stewardship. The Welcome plant annually processes approximately 49 million bushels of corn into approximately 140 million gallons of denatured ethanol and 368,000 tons of distillers grains co-products.
