Tredyffrin Easttown School District Payroll Clerk A in Wayne, Pennsylvania

Tredyffrin/Easttown School District is accepting applications for a Payroll Clerk "A" to work in the Tredyffrin Easttown Administrative Offices.   Candidates must possess strong time management and excellent computer skills with proficiency in the Word, Excel, and other financial software.  Knowledge of school district payroll procedures and database applications is valued.   Undergraduate credits in accounting or accounting degree are preferred and must have an accounting background with at least three years experience.   Some of the position responsibilities include:  daily operation of general ledger accounting, reconciliation of bank accounts, preparation of monthly Treasurer's report, processing of month end and year end closing procedures .   The position is 12 months per year, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day.    Excellent benefits.  Starting rate: $27.87/Regular rate:$28.070 or $30.06 for current TENIG employees hired before July 1, 2014.

Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma; undergraduate credits in accounting; accounting degree preferred.
  • At least three years experience in performing payroll and payroll system management.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer skills with literacy on PC system and software; proficiency in Word, Excel, and other tax software; knowledge of budget management, automated time and attendance and database applications.
  • Knowledge of public school accounting system; calculator skills.
  • Excellent statistical/analytical skills with demonstrated internal auditing proclivity.
  • Typing speed 40-45 WPM.
  • Familiarity with business office procedures (filing, billing) and machines (copier, sorter, etc).
  • Outstanding organizational skills; able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Superior time management skills; able to prioritize work to complete projects under firm deadlines.
  • Works independently in a task-oriented, detail-specific, and goal-focused manner; self-motivated.
  • Flexibility; ability to be cross-trained.

Performance Responsibilities

  1. Regular attendance.
  2. Receives, documents, and processes payroll transactions and changes for all employees.
  3. Produces payroll reports; prepares information for distribution.
  4. Maintains an adequate audit trail of all payroll transactions.
  5. Answers inquiries, resolves problems, and corrects payroll errors.
  6. Prepares and records manual payroll checks.
  7. Processes payroll refunds, including withholdings and deductions.
  8. Processes retirement applications for exiting employees.
  9. Reconciles retirement contributions to payroll reports and files quarterly returns with the state.
  10. Provides guidance to employees involved in the payroll process, especially with deductions and withholdings.
  11. Operation and maintenance of the District's automated time and attendance reporting system.
  12. Completes and submits quarterly tax reports to federal, state and local taxing authorities.
  13. Responsible for the production of payroll specific check run.
  14. Preparation of fiscal and calendar year ending reports.
  15. Accepts additional duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor of Financial Services.
