This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Sr. Facilities Director, works to ensure an attractive, safe and well-maintained facility by performing repairs and maintenance task related to the overall upkeep of buildings and grounds, including cleans and sanitizes assigned areas, including such duties as mopping, dusting and trash removal. May complete duties related to window washing, meeting set up and break-down for events, pool cleaning, snow removal, grounds keeping, and other related responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures the buildings are clean and safe at all times and assists with cleaning and sanitation as directed.

  • Provides active supervision of maintenance I staff including scheduling, payroll and performance.

  • Completes all maintenance tasks in a timely fashion minimizing downtime due to facility failures ensuring a positive member experience.

  • Assists with routine general maintenance such as room setups for meetings, moving furniture and performing heavier cleaning as necessary or as directed by the Sr. Facilities Director.

  • Maintains all required logs, records and documentation necessary to uphold compliance with municipal codes, branch procedures and association policy.

  • Ensures all facility related annual system inspections and permits are completed in a timely manner.

  • Works effectively with outside contractors including the facility-cleaning vendor to ensure building is clean and projects are completed in a timely and professional manner.

  • Manages facility based supply requests and inventory.

  • Performs regular pool checks i.e. balancing ph, inspecting filtration system etc. Serves as back up pool operator when needed.

  • Records and reports all needed repairs and communicates facility maintenance related updates to Branch Executive and Sr. Facility Director

  • Ensures YMCA building and property is secure and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.

  • Participates in the Annual Support Campaign.

  • Cooperates with other staff members in planning and conducting special events and projects.

  • Maintains appropriate appearance, courteous demeanor, and positive attitude when dealing with children, staff and parents.

  • Exhibits personal and professional behavior in a manner consistent with the best interest of the Association, so as not to bring discredit to the Association.

  • Performs such other job-related duties as may be periodically assigned by the Supervisor.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School graduate, college degree in relevant preferred.

  • Five years or more in general maintenance or related experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.

  • Ability to report and record maintenance requests.

  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.

  • Understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.

  • Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

  • HVAC experience. Black Seal certification required.

  • Certified Pool Operator certification must be obtained in first 6 months of employment.

  • EPA Certification preferred. (Type I & II or Universal)

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions.

  • Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.

  • Ability to safely work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray and aerosol forms.

  • Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.

  • Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.

  • Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi-reaching to full- reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining space; underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; lying on stomach and/or back.
