Job Summary:

The Engineering Project Manager within the Electronics and Controls department will work within the Electronics & Controls Engineering department that’s located in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Working across multiple divisions and product lines for Generac, the Engineering Project Manager is responsible for taking a project from requirements to production release as effectively and efficiently as possible using the resources allocated to them. They will provide project leadership for resources allocated from the Electronics Hardware, Firmware, Software, System & Application, and Mechanical engineering teams. They will work collaboratively with downstream customers that use our product through integration into Generator Systems. Success in this role means developing strong working relationships with customer technical counterparts, delivering NPI efforts on time and within budget for complex Electronics solutions while keeping stakeholders updated with program progress, risks, and mitigation plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Forecasting of budget requirements at project setup.

  • Project requirements capture and documentation.

  • Work within and contribute to the company development processes.

  • Create and deliver detailed project plans encompassing all engineering disciplines.

  • Assist engineers in technical requirements capture and documentation.

  • Work closely with engineers to maintain visibility and understanding of project content and progress.

  • Maintain project plans and present progress, issues, and delivery dates.

  • Act as scrum master for releases and good experience building our work plans in Jira.

  • Work dynamically and conduct technical and non-technical project administration tasks as required.

  • Collate technical files for review.

  • Monitor and report project budget consumption.

  • Take on operational responsibility for the release of new products into production.

  • Comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Become an advanced user of the company’s ERP system.

  • Collaborating with a team of Programmers, Developers, and other Engineers, to achieve shared goals and objectives by applying teamwork and effective communication skills

  • Representing the company in meetings with business leaders and clients, ensuring a positive impression of the organization.

  • Maintaining a sense of curiosity and innovative thinking, consistently exploring new technologies and striving to develop solutions independently.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of embedded software

  • Background in electrical theory

  • Worked in an industrial control or automotive company.

  • PMP Certification

  • Familiar with stage gated / agile development approaches.

  • Comfortable collaborating closely with specialized design engineers

  • Used to working to a high-quality standard.

  • Excellent team leader with problem-solving and trouble-shooting capabilities

  • Used to working in a high-paced environment.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to discuss product development issues within a team of engineers from many different specialties.

  • Enthusiastic and optimistic

  • Proven project management experience

  • Proven experience in leading new product design, development, and production

  • Strong engineering project planning and management experience

  • Working knowledge of ERP systems

  • An understanding of Agile as well as traditional methodologies

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
