Eaton Corporation Engineering Director in Waukesha, Wisconsin

What you’ll do:

As the Line Installation and Protective Equipment (LIPE) Engineering Director you will report to the Global Product Line Manager and collaborate across various business functions and with the Centers of Excellence (CoE) to drive and deliver on our five-year growth programs and technology roadmaps. You will lead a team of 8 direct reports and 60+ team members overseeing new product development, Maintenance of Line (MOL) engineering, industrialization engineering, and program management across our locations in Waukesha, WI, Olean, NY, and Queretaro, MX; along with functional responsibility for a team in Pune, India.

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with the Product and Operations to develop and integrate a five-year roadmap for products and technology, working cross-functionally within the business.

  • Provide strategic and tactical support for multiple product portfolios within LIPE, including molded rubber products, fusing, surge arresters, and assembled products.

  • Own LIPE design and process control regarding material, supply, and design changes, including verification and validation plans.

  • Drive VA/VE initiatives, cost productivity, support and address quality issues, and supply chain resiliency projects

  • Own and implement Eaton’s best practices for the LIPE Portfolio Management Review (PMR) process and the phase gate process.

  • Champion organizational research and development needs, including headcount and expense allocation for growth and cost reduction projects.

  • Identify and consolidate new product development capital requirements for project execution.

  • Manage testing schedules and collaborate with the Technology Center on lab capabilities to align with business needs

  • Lead and coordinate participation in standards development for products.

  • Lead Engineering functional excellence by developing technical competences and leveraging the Eaton ecosystem, to increase efficiencies for technical development, product industrialization, project execution.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 10+ years Engineering experience, with 5+ years leading a team of direct reports for a multinational manufacturing leader.

  • 5+ years of experience with New Product Development and/or advanced development projects

  • Experience leading engineering projects using a phase gate process

  • Experience managing expense and capital budgets, with strong financial acumen to develop compelling business cases

  • Knowledge of electrical testing standards and procedures

  • Familiarity with Standards Participation groups, rulemaking, and Intellectual Property Management

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering degree required, Mechanical Engineering degree preferred

  • Ability for 15% International Travel

  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a continuous basis without company sponsorship

The expected annual salary range for this role is $153749.97 - $225499.96 a year.
