ASSISTANT MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
A. Customer Service
Ensure that each Guest receives outstanding Guest Service by providing a Guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every Guest, maintaining outstanding standards and solid product knowledge, and providing prompt service.
Answer customer and employee questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.
Maintain an awareness of all product knowledge information, merchandise promotions, test merchandise, and advertisements and promotes these to customers.
Accurately prepares shift reports and correctly rings all sales, including alcohol, tobacco, and lottery, in accordance with company guidelines.
Completes all store paperwork, enters vendor invoices, and submits payroll in store manager's absence and on their days off.
Accurately accounts for ALL money and records ALL sales throughout shift
Assures proper sale and accounting for money orders during shift.
Accurately posts markups and markdowns, store use of merchandise, voids, and badmerchandise writeoffs, within established guidelines.
Shares the responsibility for controlling the inventory in the store.
Follows company policy in regard to store emergencies and accidents, excessive cash in registers, and safe security.
Follows correct vendor checkin procedure and ensures authorized employees do so as well.
Protects company assets at all times.
D. Merchandising and Maintenance
Maintains all merchandising standards, display presentations, signage standards, and monitors inventory levels.
Use plusselling techniques as directed by Store Manager.
Ensures tasks are completed on shift and windows, floors, counters, shelving, and gas pumps are clean at all times.
Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices including signing, pricing, and loss prevention.
Troubleshoot equipment problems, such as the ATM.
Immediately advises Store Manager of any maintenance problems and fully documents them in Red Book.
Recruit, train, develop, and communicate with store associates and assist Store Manager in assessing performance.
Accurately prioritize job responsibilities so that highest level of customer service is provided.
Able to direct the work of other employees and lead by example.
In conjunction with the Store Manager, keeps store associates informed of pertinent operational and policy changes.
Can operate all aspects of store in Store Manager's absence.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must demonstrate previous management experience.
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to explain and enforce operating policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.
Must be able to work with minimum amount of supervision under stressful conditions.
Must have the ability to follow verbal and written communications.
Must be able to operate a cash register, handle money, maintain fiscal records, and operate general office equipment.
Must be able to independently apply and carry out policies and procedures within assigned area of responsibility.
Must be able to perform mathematical computations with accuracy and have some computer skills.
Must have valid driver's license and transportation to go to and from the bank.
All duties are performed under the guidance of the Store Manager.
Essential Physical Requirements:
Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area, and register area and climb ladders
Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, stooping, and bending as necessary.
Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store, including bagging ice, generally weighing 050 pounds.
Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
Ability to tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.
Ability to sweep and mop floors, dust shelves, bend and clean areas such as bathrooms, and lift and carry out trash containers and place in an outside bin.
Ability to clean the parking lot and grounds surrounding the convenience store.
Ability to stand up for at least an 8 hour shift.
Ability to enter and work in a cooler at a temperature of 28 degrees and a freezer of 0 to10 degrees below zero.
