Aegis Therapies Clinical Practice Specialist- PT or OTR in Watertown, Massachusetts

GENERAL PURPOSE

Serves as a resource to enhance overall clinical development, growth and excellence of service delivery within assigned geography.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Coordinates and delivers clinical education activities through activities such as: Conducts clinical education seminars and in-services/training modules; Provides field consultation for clinical reasoning and problem solving (via site visits, phone, email and webinars); aids in development of clinical leadership by providing orientation, training and support to enhance skills; provides required components of DOR Orientation

  • Develops a clinical strategic plan by working with all levels of operational leadership and clinical services; assesses overall clinical functions and performance of facilities and develops action steps for clinical enhancements through hands-on service delivery, interactive training or targeted observation; actively participates in identification and implementation of action plans in underperforming components of clinical practice; accountable both to Operations and Clinical to monitor impact of plans to insure desired results are realized

  • Functions at a treating clinician; equivalent of 1 day per week functioning at 80% PCT

  • Conducts assigned reviews of documentation, documentation outliers, and validation reviews for both short and long term patients

  • Assists with denial prevention and with the appeal management process; monitors any and all external review activity including and necessary corrective action plans

  • Assists with Corporate projects and task forces as requested and able

  • Serves as primary clinical resource for all clinical and specialty programs

  • Takes direction and priorities from the Clinical Department and is accountable to field leadership for execution of essential job duties

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate from an accredited program for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech-Language Pathology

  • Must hold current license in at least one state of practice; license in all states of territory preferred

  • Active certification in CPR preferred

  • Minimum three (3) years experience using a trans-disciplinary approach

  • Must meet Clinical Competency requirements upon hire and as needed

  • Ability to travel with overnight stays

  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS

  • Good communication skills both verbally and in writing

  • Good time management and organizational skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and ability to learn company or customer systems

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time without compromising deadlines

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient, employee and company proprietary information

  • Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families, and other employees at all levels

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Mobility, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, walking, heavy lifting, fine hand coordination, ability to hear, ability to read and write, ability to detect odors, and ability to remain calm under stress.

  • Hearing (corrected) adequate for oral/aural communication with patients, staff, family, visitors, etc.

  • Vision (corrected) adequate for reading.

  • Intelligible speech and normal language / cognitive skills.

  • Must be able to push patients in a wheelchair or stretchers.*

  • Lifting of patients*, equipment or supplies will be required up to 20 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds rarely.

  • Sitting, standing, and walking required throughout the day.

  • Job duties sometimes require climbing stairs, kneeling, twisting, bending; on occasion, crouching, crawling and reaching overhead.

  • Must be able to transfer patients.*

  • Must be able to demonstrate any appropriate exercise and activities to patients / caregivers.

  • Work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

  • Weekend and holiday work may be required.

  • Work environment is primarily indoors but occasionally outdoors.

  • Several task and job duties involve a risk of exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens and other potentially infectious materials (OPIM).
