In addition to maintaining a competitive and sustainable product portfolio that meets the needs of our customers, distribution partners, and shareholders, the Individual Life Insurance product team also plays a vital and active role in supporting advisors and wholesalers in the sale of large individual insurance policies. The HNW Product Consultant role offers extensive cross-training opportunities and provides a platform for you to showcase your existing skills while acquiring new ones that will help advance your career at Manulife. Reporting to the Director, HNW Product Support, the Consultant’s primary responsibilities will include providing direct support and consultation to Advisors, Manulife wholesalers, and internal partners in addition to supporting large cases and ensuring that they are handled effectively and efficiently. This will involve delivering case-specific optimized product and customized concept solutions, as well as providing detailed explanations of the solutions provided, their values, and benefits. Your support will enable advisors to effectively present and close larger, more complex cases.

Key Skills & Attributes

  • In-depth understanding of term, universal life, and participating whole life insurance products (preferably Manulife’s products)

  • Experience working with new business insurance illustration systems

  • Ability to create optimized custom solutions for product and concept in HNW planning situations

  • Intermediate (or better) level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent planning skills, well-organized, with the ability to balance multiple priorities under pressure and make decisions

  • Customer service-focused, results-oriented, and adaptable

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Ability to maintain a strong understanding of ongoing product developments, changes in tax rules, and the competitive landscape

Responsibilities & Key Tasks

HNW Support Case Support

  • Support and manage large cases by helping advisors with custom product solutions under complex pricing requests

  • Create product solutions under specific criteria

  • Liaise with internal teams

  • Assist with complex settling of large case policies

  • Support HNW cases with custom product and concept solutions for Manulife Advisors, Wholesalers, and internal partners

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of working in individual life insurance in a sales or new business support capacity

  • University degree

  • Demonstrated ability to work with numbers

  • Strong understanding of all individual life insurance products and the product illustration software

  • Strong understanding of all life insurance sales concepts and the concept illustration software

  • Solid understanding of individual policyholder taxation and the principles of personal and corporate taxation

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle high volumes

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Exposure to the sales environment either in wholesaling, direct sales, or a supporting function (marketing role)

Salary range is expected to be between

$67,275.00 CAD - $112,125.00 CAD
