Lakeview NeuroRehabilitation Center Resident Assistant CBRF in Waterford, Wisconsin

To provide assistance and treatment to program participants on CBRF. To help ensure active participation in the rehabilitation program. To participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team. To provide the resident population with education, assistance, supervision, safety, and behavior management.

Key Responsibilities:

1 Functions at all times as a therapeutic agent by demonstrating teaching, reinforcing, anticipating, interacting, and noticing program participant behavior.

2 Tends to the program participant's immediate needs through safety, education, health/hygiene, and comfort in ways that foster independent functioning on the part of the participants (i.e., assist the participant with ADLs, mealtime, bathing, laundry, community access, and vocational skills). Works with participants in a variety of settings in accordance with their schedules.

3 Provides treatment in accordance with unit and facility policies through active participation with program participants during activities, ADLs, meals, groups, etc.

4 Continuously engages the participants while on duty; actively seeks opportunities to teach age-appropriate responsibility, independent living skills, and pro-social behavior. Competently communicates with staff and participants in a manner consistent with both their Individualized Service Plan and individual needs.

5 Provides descriptive and objective information for input into the ISP regarding functional abilities and limitations as well as observes and records data regarding target behaviors in accordance with their ISP's and prescribed program interventions

6 Re-order medication supplies when low according to protocol. Orders for medications for a therapeutic pass in a timely manner. Instructs the participant/family on administration and complete appropriate forms.

7 Adhere to the administrative, clinical, and human resource policies of Lakeview, including completing competency testing.

 Qualifications:

  1. Skill, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Must be able to read, write, spell, and to understand and follow both written and oral directions. Requires knowledge and the ability to communicate and work well with Program Participants with various abilities and disabilities (physical, cognitive, psychological, emotional, and/or communication). Knowledge of the sequela of brain injuries and other neurological disorders. Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner. Ability to complete and maintain required training. CPR & First Aid course required.

  1. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Prefer some college or college degree.

  2. Licensure: CBRF Standard Precautions, Fire, and First Aide as well as a Valid driver's license and good driving record.
