SUMMARY: The Para educator's function is one of assisting the classroom teacher with routine tasks in an effort to more effectively use professional knowledge and skills of the teacher. The responsibilities of the Para educator are generally supportive in nature. The Para educator shall work within the guidelines of school district, state and federal statutes, regulations and policies, and must meet the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 criteria. ? Academic/Behavioral Area - Regular Education ? Academic/Behavioral Area/Daily Living Skills - Special Education ? Vocational/Academic/Behavioral Area/Daily Living Skills - Special Education Paraeducator assignments designated by the School Principal may focus upon one of these three areas, or may be a combination of the duties from each area. These assignments may vary during the school year to match the needs of the students and the school system.
