Porter and Chester Institute Senior Educational Funding Specialist in Waterbury, Connecticut

The Sr. Educational Funding Specialist (SEFS) is responsible for interactions with prospective students seeking financial aid in pursuit of their career education; the development and finalizing of student financial packaging plans consistent with institutional policies and procedures with Federal/State regulations for awarding and packaging aid; advising applicants and their families on all matters directly related to student financial aid; back-end processing; agency processing; supporting a collaborative enrollment management model.

The Sr. Educational Funding Specialist will…

  • Work collaboratively with the admissions staff to facilitate outstanding customer service to prospective students and their parents.

  • Conduct Primaries/Financial Plans following institutional procedures and Federal and State regulations:

  • Guide prospective students and their parents through the financial aid process and address any needs or concerns

  • Assist prospective students and their parents with completion of the FAFSA and review of the resulting ISIR

  • Explain the Package/Plan and the student’s/parent’s rights and responsibilities for each aid source

  • Explore alternative financing options for tuition balances

  • Conduct follow-up activities to obtain necessary student and program documentation and paperwork for all federal aid, state and agency funding, and private student loans.

  • Calculate financial aid awards and package them, originate aid, perform verifications, and resolve any discrepant applicant information on a daily basis.

  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures and processes to ensure accurate awarding, packaging and financial aid record keeping

  • Maintain complete and accurate student files and student activity records while maintaining the confidentiality of student records and information

  • Participate in training activities to increase knowledge of aid programs and compliance

  • Work TIV rejects by running the Direct Loan Analysis Report

  • Assist with reenroll packaging and/or repackaging students financial aid packaged due to failed coursework

  • Back up for agency relations

  • Quality assurance – file reviews

    Position Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field preferred

  • 3 - 5 years related work experience

  • Prior financial aid or commercial loan experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of financial aid process and procedures

  • Must have high level knowledge of TIV Regulations

  • Ability to make small group presentations, as well as skill in interacting on a one-on-one basis

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Computer skills and the ability to use common software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Experience with the Financial Aid modules of CampusVue

  • 5+ years working with NSLDS and COD

  • Ability to recognize and maintain the confidential of records

  • Must be highly organized and know how to prioritize workflow

Mon, Wed, Fri 8:30am-5pm; Tues, Thurs 10:00am-7pm
