As an Employment Specialist at Ability Beyond, you will play a vital role in our mission to assist individuals through the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services in Waterbury. You will be instrumental in providing the necessary support for individuals to navigate the complexities of the job market, fostering their independence and self-sufficiency.

Location: Waterbury, CT

Salary: $42,640 / year

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM FLEX

Travel Requirements: Around 150 to 175 miles biweekly (gas milage reimbursement)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your expertise as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist to provide personalized assistance to individuals in their journey towards employment.

  • Collaborate with clients to develop individualized employment plans, tailored to their unique strengths and goals.

  • Offer guidance and support in job search strategies, resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace etiquette.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with local employers to identify job opportunities suitable for our clients.

  • Advocate for the needs and rights of individuals with disabilities in the workplace, ensuring reasonable accommodations are provided when necessary.

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field to human services

  • Valid driver's license

  • Peer Recovery Support Specialist Certification or individuals with lived mental health experience willing to gain certification are strongly encouraged to apply!
