Job Description: Mechanic Regular Full Time Position
Functional Summary:
Walker Construction is seeking a mechanic with experience repairing and maintaining construction equipment and heavy trucks. The mechanic position provides support functions to the excavation and concrete crews through quickly assessing the cause of equipment/vehicle failures, and minimizing downtime with timely, thorough repairs. This position is also required to have an assortment of basic tools for use on the job. Walker construction will purchase/provide any specialty tools specific to our equipment or vehicles that is required.
Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Mechanic include, but are not limited to:
Takes direction from and communicates with shop manager
Works in a safe manner and follows safety protocols outlined by the shop manager
Works in a productive and orderly manner
Mechanical skills to fix minor/major issues with different equipment as needed
Has an understanding of diesel engines, gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical systems on vehicles
Has a general understanding of computer diagnostics for vehicles and equipment
Willingness to learn our diagnostic systems as they are purchased and implemented
Safety:
Adherers to the companys safety manual, and companys safety culture
Participate in weekly safety meeting
Work in a safe responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure ones self or endanger the well-being of others
Qualifications:
Education, Training and certifications
High School Diploma or GED Preferred
Valid Drivers License CDL a plus
Vocational training a plus but not required
Work Experience
2-5 years job experience required

Working Conditions
Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, extreme temperatures, and work sites will have uneven and inconsistent work surfaces
Must be able to regularly lift 50 LBS and occasionally 100 LBS
Kneeling and bending is required
Use of Personal Protective Equipment is required
Travel may be required
Overtime as required
Work attire Tee shirts to have a minimum of a 4 sleeve with our company logo, pants, and appropriate work boots
Drug and Alcohol use will not be permitted during working hours
