KeenLogic WAF Engineer in Washington, District Of Columbia

  Sr. WAF (Akamai) Engineer - Akamai Tools Suite KeenLogic is seeking to hire a Sr. WAF (Akamai) Engineer in 1 of 3 locations in Washington, DC. This is a full-time remote position offering Fortune 500-level health benefits, PTO, 401k, Life Insurance, and monthly reimbursement for travel.

This Sr. WAF (Akamai) Engineer - Akamai Tools Suite is an individual contributor who will perform edge security duties in the Akamai tools suite, including WAF tuning, bot management, API protection, network policy governance, troubleshooting, and incident response. Required Skills:

  • Secret Clearance

  • Bachelor's Degree + 5 years of related experience

  • Web Application Firewall, including Akamai

  • Akamai WAF, DDOS, Kona, etc.

  • Firewall, IDS/IPS, Anti-Virus, etc.

    Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage Akamai Technology Features, including Web Application Firewall (WAF), DDoS, Bot Manager, List Management, Luna Portal User Access Management, Account protector, Client Reputation, & Other Kona settings.

  • Conduct technical review with Akamai and application teams on challenges during onboarding applications/services.

  • Configure WAF/DDOS/Client Rep/Bot/Account Protector during the onboarding process for applications.

  • Conduct onboarding assessment, alert only policy activation, traffic analysis, and production policy activation

  • Arrange and conduct the technical review with Akamai and application teams on challenges during onboarding application/services

  • Enable alert only policy for the requested hosts

  • ITSM Incident management for Service Availability, Connectivity Issues, access issues, performance issues, troubleshooting requests.

  • Review data in Akamai portal to help identify any security related events that are related to ongoing security incidents or issues such as WAF, DDoS or Platform related issues.

  • Handling alerts or incident requests related to application layer attacks, abnormal malicious traffic, DDOS attacks, bot attacks, etc.

  • Develop and create new reports.

  • Monitor Akamai platform for health and availability. And provide Service Health Reporting

  • Reporting on Akamai alerts to respective application teams for potential follow up.

  • Ensure application tuning requirements are adhered to in regular cadence.

  • Gather & Document & track progress of Akamai tuning requirements.
