This vacancy will be used to fill multiple positions in OPP, OAL, OSEC, OEA. For more information visit: FERC Responsibilities This vacancy is for a Spring and/or Summer 2025 internship. While the duties of a Student Trainee (Management Analyst) may vary depending on office placement, some of your typical work assignments may include: In the Office of Administrative Litigation(OAL): Assisting the administrative staff with handling a wide range of tasks that fall under various administrative program topics, to include but not limited to, training, travel, budget, logistics, information technology, human resources, and office operations. Assignments will vary day-to-day based on the general needs of the office. In the Office of External Affairs (OEA): (1) Assisting the Strategic Operations & Special Projects Division by monitoring the FOIA and CEII inboxes and ensuring that new requests are flagged for the team for response; maintaining an internal spreadsheet to track deadlines and actions on specific FOIA/CEII requests, and monitoring of the Inform FERC inbox and the distribution of pertinent information to the appropriate Program Offices; (2) Assisting the State, International, and Tribal Affairs Division in outreach efforts and technical-conference preparation; (3) Assisting the Media Relations Division with preparing the daily news clips, drafting content for the Commission’s internal newsletter, and assisting with preparation of social media posts and monitoring of social media sites; and (4) Assisting the Congressional Affairs Division with Congressional inquiries, researching current legislative and policy issues, and monitoring Committee hearings and writing summary briefs. In the Office of the Secretary (OSEC): Assisting the Records Management staff as they conduct a review of the agency’s records management program, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and policy. Tasks include helping to evaluate deficiencies in the Commission’s records management, designing procedures to mitigate risks, and developing training for FERC staff. Task would also include working with the OSEC Agenda and Notice groups in the publishing of orders, rules, and regulations; and issuance of public notices of filings and other notices issued by the Commission. In the Office of Public Participation (OPP): Monitoring, advising, and preparing media drafts for posting on social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram and making edits and updates to the Office’s web page. Providing content development, formatting, and design support for Office-related outreach materials. May be extended if the student continues to meet program requirements. This internship position may confer non-competitive conversion eligibility, however, conversion is not required or guaranteed. General experience is defined as: progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. To be eligible for conversion to the competitive service, you must complete 640 hours of work experience (up to 320 hours may be waived based on successful performance in the position and a 3.0 overall GPA); meet the OPM qualification standards for the target position; and meet the requirements of the FERC Pathways Internship Agreement.
