The Student Affairs Coordinator in the Office of Student Engagement in the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University is responsible for providing administrative support for curricular, cocurricular, and extracurricular activities at the McCourt School. The person in this role coordinates, oversees, and/or performs a wide variety of administrative and program support activities on behalf of the McCourt School Office of Student Engagement and the larger Student Affairs team. The individual serves as the initial operational and administrative point of contact for the Student Affairs office and oversees coverage of the Student Affairs reception. They manage the recruitment and hiring of work study students and are responsible for the onboarding and task supervision of graduate assistants in the reception area. The person in this role will support the team in fostering a positive student experience and creating a new undergraduate student experience. Work in the evenings and weekends are occasionally required. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Student Engagement Support

  • Provide administrative support on a variety of events and initiatives, including commencement, orientation, McCourt Foundations course, Public Policy Challenge, Student Showcase, and other large-scale student events and activities.

  • Support ongoing communication efforts with incoming and current McCourt students through content development, maintenance of email databases, and correspondence tracking.

  • Assist the Director of Student Engagement and Joint Program in Public Policy (JPPP) Faculty Director in engagement of undergraduate students enrolling in the JPPP.

  • Coordinate McCourt student-specific opportunities with GU Politics, supporting ongoing experiential learning and long-term strategic planning efforts.

  • Collaborate with the Office of Advancement in the coordination of graduating student giving campaigns.

  • Assist the Assistant Director in logistical support of McCourt student organizations and coordinate Student Affairs swag.

Student Affairs Administration

  • Oversee Academic and Student Affairs reception area including coordination of front desk coverage.

  • Manage operational needs of the Student Affairs suite.

  • Provide task supervision to student reception workers, including graduate assistants.

  • Coordinate recruitment and hiring of work study students.

General Administration Support

  • Assist Director of Student Engagement in developing and managing the team’s budget.

  • Support Faculty Directors with student programming.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Work Interactions

Under the supervision of the Director of Student Engagement at McCourt, the Student Affairs Coordinator interacts with faculty, staff, students, and external constituencies in their program support and office management responsibilities. The person in this role specifically interacts with the Faculty Directors of McCourt academic programs, the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, McCourt Communications and Events staff, student organization leaders, and numerous student resources at Georgetown as they support McCourt students and the Office of Student Affairs suite. They manage work study students and provide task supervision to graduate assistants.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years administrative experience in an office environment; higher education experience preferred.

Work Mode Designation

This position has been designated as Hybrid, with the option to telework one day a week. Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$41,926.00 - $65,090.00

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
