AvantGarde, LLC Senior SQL Server Database Administrator in Washington, District Of Columbia
AvantGarde, LLC (AG) seeks to engage a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator who will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server databases, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of mission critical applications at the U.S. Capitol Police (Legislative Branch) Office of Information Systems (OIS). Work will be performed in a hybrid arrangement of remote, home-based (3 days) and onsite (2 days) in Washington, DC.
The WORK
Implement, configure, manage and maintain the organization’s highly complex SQL Server databases.
Ensure availability and consistent performance.
Develop and sustain the SQL Server environment ensuring operational readiness. Monitor and resolve the system’s health, performance and capacity issues, including scalability/clustering.
Execute data loads and perform data modeling in support of multiple teams and customers.
Analyze, solve and correct any SQL server database issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
Evaluate and optimize database configuration and access.
Ensure that databases are up-to-date and policies and procedures protect against data loss.
Perform database recovery and back-up.
Advise users on access to multiple databases and help solve data confliction and inappropriate usage.
The REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, or related field.
7 years of database administration experience, including SQL Server databases.
Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications.
Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL.
Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding.
Requires experience working independently and collaboratively.
Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third-party tools.
Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
Strong customer service orientation.
Experience working in an agile work environment with ability to operate in a nimble, flexible way.
Expert level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
Must be a US Citizen and able to complete client security processes.
