Actalent Pathology Grossing Technician in Washington, District Of Columbia

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the examination, dissection, and submission of small, uncomplicated human tissue biopsy specimens and low complexity routine specimens. The role requires producing accurate and legible grossing notes with code descriptions that provide the Pathologist with a clear understanding of the sections taken.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Labeling requisitions, specimen containers, and cassettes

  • Maintaining laboratory equipment

  • Tracking all routine maintenance and quality controls performed

  • Operating, cleaning, and sterilizing laboratory equipment, glassware, instruments, and workstations

  • Disposing of hazardous chemical wastes per regulatory guidelines.

  • The candidate will maintain strict adherence to submitted tissues per SOP and related protocols with a high level of quality.

Skills/Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in grossing tissue specimens in the laboratory

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Biology, or other Life Sciences

  • HT or MLS eligible

Work Environment

This is a fully on-site position in Washington, District of Columbia. Core working hours are M-F 8am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5pm (up to the candidate).
