General Description

The successful candidate will provide Oracle database expertise to the Air Force’s Program and Budget Enterprise System (PBES), supporting the program’s Sustainment Help Desk, software development, and sustainment efforts.  The successful candidate will assist with the Sustainment Help Desk and support the daily system operation of various components of Oracle’s EPM software solution, providing technical support to address system and data issues that inhibit production processing; perform and/or direct the performance of Oracle database software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting across multiple database instantiations, including databases supporting Oracle’s Hyperion Financial Management/EPM software solution, and business intelligence solutions using Oracle’s OBIEE data warehouse solution. In addition, the candidate will provide Oracle database expertise to the sustainment of the PBES Development and Test environments in AWS. Other activities will include performing data analysis and evaluation, developing data update strategies, performing data cleansing activities, performing data extraction, and performing data refreshes.  Responsibilities further include performing and troubleshooting data migration, monitoring production database performance, and recommending and executing database performance tuning.

Duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the Sustainment Help Desk, accepting user calls, performing root cause analysis, and both recommending and implementing data and technical solutions to address user issues. This also includes developing and executing PL/SQL scripts, recommending and performing updates to the configuration and design of multiple databases associated with the Oracle EPM solution (DRM, Hyperion’s Oracle implementation, and OBIEE), performing maintenance, and patching of Oracle databases, and providing monitoring support to ensure that the production, test, and development environments are fully available. The candidate will be responsible for the quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. They will consult with and advise users on access to various databases and work directly with users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage. 

Specialized Knowledge

  • Perform as an Oracle Database specialist and programmer.

  • Update and restore table data and make necessary data corrections.

  • Provide routine, on-site support to the Sustainment Help Desk, resolving user issues and problems ranging from application-generated data issues to application and operating system configuration changes.

  • Consult on database installations, upgrades, security patches, security STIGs, backup and recovery, data migration, data modeling, and coding.

  • Use in-depth knowledge of database management systems and consult on technical matters for application development projects.

  • Provide evaluation of database configuration changes, database resource allocation, database problem resolution, database code development, and database maintenance.

    Education

    Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field .

    Professional Certifications

    An active CompTIA Security+ certification is required.

    Clearance

    An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain said clearance is required.

    Experience

    A minimum of 5 years of database experience.

    U.S. Citizen or Similar

    Must be a U.S. Citizen

    Skills and Abilities

    Experience with database management of Oracle databases.

    Other Characteristics (e.g., Personal or Language)

    Must be a self-starter with the ability to manage work efforts with minimal leadership oversight. Must also have excellent time-management skills as well as excellent oral, written, and communication skills. Must be able to work in a team environment with members that include personnel from other companies, Government program management and administrative personnel, and technical staff members.

    Working conditions, including location

    The Pentagon, Washington DC with occasional ability to work remotely.

    Client duty hours are Monday through Friday.
