About Us:

If you are passionate about the ability of American business to improve lives, solve problems, and strengthen society, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the place for you. As the world’s largest business organization, we believe in building a future that gives everyone the opportunity to pursue a better tomorrow. We make it our job today–and every day–to build the strongest relationships possible among the American people, business leaders, and elected officials in Washington, D.C., state capitals, and countries around the globe. For them and the businesses we represent, the U.S. Chamber is a trusted advocate and partner.

We are driven by the pursuit of innovation and partnership and hold ourselves to the highest standards. Our commitment to our members is matched only by our commitment to our employees. As part of our team, we will support your long-term career development while delivering relevant learning opportunities. We will empower you to lead, develop deep expertise, and find new approaches to solving the toughest challenges.

Position Overview:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Member Relations team seeks an entrepreneurial, intellectually curious professional to join our team and support the membership growth of our legal programs, the Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) and the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center.

The Chamber’s legal programs tackle the most significant, precedent-setting issues of the day on behalf of the American business community and are led by top litigators, many of them former Supreme Court clerks. Our Member Relations team works hand in glove with the legal teams to support our corporate partners here in Washington and across the country. Each day, we partner with C-suite executives and general counsels at the most important multinational companies.

We are seeking a research manager who is eager to couple outstanding research, writing, and copyediting skills with a business mindset to deliver member opportunities and value and drive business interests and new commitments. The manager will develop background research briefings and materials, working collaboratively with colleagues across new business, member engagement, and operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, copy-editing skills, self-confidence, and tenacity.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively support the ILR and the Litigation Center by developing comprehensive briefs on major companies, digging deep into financial data, news sites, company press releases and websites, and other sources.

  • Work with ILR and Litigation Center attorneys by managing and overseeing their research portfolios to ensure the delivery of high-caliber briefing materials.

  • Compile detailed profiles of corporate entities, including financial, biographical, and geographical information.

  • Stay up to date on political and corporate news trends, the Chamber’s work, and the needs and interests of our member and prospective companies and proactively connect the dots between the headlines and the corresponding impact on a given industry or company.

  • Leverage Salesforce to research company membership, generate insightful reports, track news and updates, and identify trends to support our sales strategy.

  • Play a pivotal role in the team’s synergy, offering robust support to colleagues.

  • Embrace a variety of assignments and responsibilities as the need arises, contributing to the overarching goals of the organization.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in a research, legal, or writing environment.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to communicate with senior executives with confidence and sophistication.

  • A growth and learning mindset characterized by an openness to challenging assumptions at the organization and on personal levels.

  • Superior organization.

  • An understanding of the Chamber’s mission and an appreciation for its impact on the business sector.

  • A passion for political, legal, and policy issues.

  • A nose for news and the ability to creatively connect the dots between the headlines and the corresponding impact on a given industry or company.

  • Ability to manage complex and fast-changing portfolios of work and prioritize effectively in response.

  • Comfort with ambiguity.

  • An entrepreneurial spirit and a track record showing initiative and ownership of work.

  • Experience using a CRM, such as Salesforce.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, notably Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
