Hogan Lovells Manager of Business Team Compensation in Washington, District Of Columbia

The Manager of Business Team Compensation - Americas works closely with the Director of Benefits and Business Team Compensation - Americas to develop, administer, evaluate, and lead the firms compensation programs and initiatives for Business Team employees. This position provides strategic input to the development of compensation policies and practices, offers compensation advice and support, and conducts internal and external pay analyses. The role also ensures that the firms Business Team compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations while remaining competitive in attracting and retaining top talent.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Partners with the Director of Benefits and Business Team Compensation - Americas to develop, implement, and maintain compensation practices and procedures that are compliant, ensure equity, and are consistent with the firms culture and values;
  • Manages the development, implementation, and administration of the firms Business Team compensation programs;
  • Provides benchmarking data for business cases, job requisitions, compensation reviews, benefits, and other requests;
  • Leads the participation, completion, and submission of responses for compensation surveys;
  • Evaluates external market data and internal equity to make informed compensation related recommendations for employees and the firm;
  • Provides key assistance during the annual compensation review period and for various adhoc projects;
  • Works collaboratively across teams and business functions to evaluate job structures, job descriptions, and other factors that may impact compensation;
  • Engages with compensation and human resources colleagues to drive and/or enhance compensation initiatives across global regions;
  • Maintains strict confidentiality; and
  • Performs other duties and completes other projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be detail oriented with demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to self-manage workload, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, and utilize time effectively to meet deadlines;
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills;
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., PivotTables, data analysis formulas and functions, data visualization/charts, etc.) and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to perform numerical calculations and organize data in a logical and meaningful way;
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply statistical interpretation to compensation analysis;
  • Knowledge of Workday preferred;
  • Must possess sufficient knowledge of subject matter and technical expertise to perform with a high level of independence while requiring minimal supervision;
  • Excellent client service skills; and
  • Ability to manage change and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible compensation experience.
  • 3+ years of analytical experience researching and resolving compensation program issues, summarizing findings, proposing solutions, and advising management.
  • Law firm or professional services firm experience preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in human resources, management, business administration or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Advanced degree in human resources, management, business administration or a related discipline a plus.
  • Supervisory experience a plus.
  • Professional certification(s) in compensation (CCP or GRP) and/or human resources (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to lift items weighing up to 10 p unds.

HOURS:

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., including one hour for lunch.

The annualized salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firms fringe benefits as they currently exists.
