Job Title: Grossing Technician

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the examination, dissection, and submission of small, uncomplicated human tissue biopsy specimens and low complexity routine specimens. The role includes producing accurate and legible grossing notes with code descriptions that provide the Pathologist with a clear understanding of the sections taken. Responsibilities also include labeling requisitions, specimen containers, and cassettes, maintaining laboratory equipment, tracking all routine maintenance and quality controls performed, operating, cleaning, and sterilizing laboratory equipment, glassware, instruments and workstations, and disposing of hazardous chemical wastes per regulatory guidelines. The candidate will maintain strict protocols for submitted tissues with a high level of quality.

Hard Skills

• 2+ years of experience grossing and histology (preferred)

• Dermatopathology (preferred but not required)

• Histology experience (required)

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Washington, District of Columbia.

Work Environment

The day will consist of 50% grossing dermatopathology specimens and 50% helping in the histology lab. The schedule would be a day or midday shift. This is not expected to be an evening or overnight position.
