Position Summary: This opening is for a dynamic, self-motivated, and experienced individual to support the Cell Therapy portfolio as a Field Application Scientist (FAS). The Cell Therapy field is undergoing an exciting period of rapid growth and expansion as CAR-T and stem cell-derived therapies successfully transition to the clinic. Growing relationships and providing technical support to those customers is an essential part of Thermo Fisher Scientific's mission of enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a Cell Biology FAS team member, the candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary matrix team that includes commercial representatives, R&D scientists, product management, and marketing specialists. The successful candidate will serve as the technical expert on our cell therapy portfolios, providing pre and post-sales product support, leading seminars and demos, and running internal and external training as needed.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as customer-facing technical expert, demonstrating intimate knowledge of products and familiarity with priorities and challenges in the field

  • Deliver scientific seminars, host roundtable discussions, and lead hands-on workshops, demos, and trainings

  • Work with internal teams to develop and update workflow applications and educational content for customer training in the form of videos, seminars, training manuals, etc.

  • Provide market sensing mechanism, identifying new opportunities and highlighting gaps in current portfolio

  • Serve as liaison between customers, commercial team, R&D, and production management

  • Represent the Cell Biology division of Thermo Fisher Scientific at conferences and vendor shows to present products and gather customer feedback

  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Biology, Cell Biology or related discipline

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in immunotherapy or other cell therapy field

  • Candidate will be proficient with CAR-T workflow and viral transfection

  • Experience working with closed system cell manufacturing platforms highly desired.

  • Must possess strong understanding of customer challenges associated with transition to clinical workflow (scale-up, regulatory requirements, GMP manufacturing, etc.)

  • Demonstrates judgment, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers, as well as the ability to handle confidential and proprietary information

  • This position requires extensive contact with customers, and therefore, outstanding written and oral communication skills are required

  • The ability to work independently with little supervision and a strong work ethic is critical

  • Works in an office and lab environment. May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties

  • Ability to travel up to 60% within North America
