Under the supervision of the Dean of Admissions, the Director of Admissions, Law Center oversees all J.D. admissions processes. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Read, evaluate, and make admissions decisions and recommendations on applicants to all J.D. programs, including both first-year and transfer classes.

  • Direct both pre-application and post-admissions recruiting and counseling for the J.D. program.

  • Manage operations of the admissions office function, including related activities such as its Early Outreach Initiative.

  • Represent Georgetown Law at informational forums and law fairs.

  • Direct the J.D. scholarship process and budget, overseeing the creation and updating of Admissions publications and marketing materials.

  • Oversee the Alumni and Group interview processes.

Work Interactions

The Director of Admissions reports directly to the Dean of Admissions/Associate Vice President of Graduate Enrollment, directly supervises two Assistant Directors of Admissions, the Special Assistant to the Dean of Admissions, and the Manager of J.D. operations, and indirectly supervises a staff of Admissions Officers. This position oversees an applicant pool that typically ranges from approximately 10,000-12,000 applications, including through email, phone, and in-person counseling, information sessions and presentations, college campus and city visits, and joint recruiting efforts with other peer law institutions.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to exercise excellent judgment, to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information, and to work independently but also collegially with a wide range of people including applicants, alumni, faculty, administration, staff and students

  • At least 5 years of progressive administrative experience is preferred, ideally managing a sophisticated academic department, preferably in admissions and/or law school administration

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$54,616.00 - $100,493.33

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
