National Gallery of Art Audiovisual Production Specialist in Washington, District Of Columbia

Summary The primary purpose of the position is to create and communicate and maintain physical production and post-production plans, document management, schedules, facilities, equipment, software, and logistics across a slate of video and audio products; coordinate and maintain the structure for production and post-production workflows. Responsibilities The Audiovisual Production Specialist will: Provide logistical, planning, document management and coordinating for the Production Studio at the National Gallery, acting as a department-wide coordinator for physical production planning and administration. Coordinate the logistical, expense, and resource planning for high-quality multimedia content across the whole range of the Gallery’s channels – from short YouTube films co-created with artists, immersive documentaries accompanying exhibitions, promotional trailers for programming or snappy Instagram Stories. Maintain physical production and post-production protocols for the Production Studio and assists in the physical production and post-production strategies for video and audio content. Perform the full range of administrative responsibilities; Plans work to be accomplished; sets and adjusts priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work; assigns and completes work based on priorities. Maintain, update, and distribute shooting/production calendar, staff lists, agreement tracker, purchase orders, p-card purchases, equipment lists, etc. Assist the department in tracking projects from development to delivery. Assist productions with finding stage and office spaces or filming locations within the National Gallery. Serve as the main point of contact & liaison with the Production Office for projects in production (National Gallery of Art production manual, policies, and procedures, etc.); supports the Production Department and acts as logistical hub of information to other internal Departments. Qualifications Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-1071-11. Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-9 level in the Federal service, creating, communicating, and maintaining physical production and post-production plans, document management, schedules, facilities, equipment, software, and logistics across a slate of video and audio products; coordinate and maintain the structure for production and post-production workflows products for an organization. Comprehensive knowledge of video, audio, design and motion graphics trends and best practices, which requires knowledge and expertise in relevant media production and video design and display technologies. Comprehensive knowledge of tracking purchase orders, P cards, requisitions, petty cash, and invoice expenses, scheduling, accounting, cost-reporting standards, and tools, including but not limited to: Movie Magic Budgeting and Scheduling, Hot Budget/AICP, Excel, ASANA, Scenechronize, Prodicle, Cashet, MS Teams, MS Office, and other production software tools. Advanced specialized knowledge of videography principles, practices, tools, and methods, and must understand successful video production and post-production as they apply to the Gallery’s marketing, exhibiting and content-creation activities. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. OR Experience General Experience (for GS-5 positions): Experience that demonstrated the skills and creativity needed to use the tools or equipment associated with the work. Because talent and creative ability are vital to successful work performance, samples of work or other suitable evidence of technical competence may be required. Unpaid experience that is pertinent should be credited based upon its relevance to the work of the particular position to be filled. To be qualifying, the work must have provided a general knowledge of the fields of radio, movie, television, and/or audio-visual communication. Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work directly connected with the production aspects of the field(s) of the position to be filled.
