POSITION OVERVIEW:

The People & Culture Generalist supports the daily human resource functions at IWPR, including benefits administration, labor law compliance, HRIS management, full-cycle recruiting, onboarding and offboarding. The P&C Generalist is responsible for providing customer service to IWPR employees, supervisors and leadership in response to inquiries related to a broad range of HR-related topics, including but not limited to HR policy, talent acquisition, benefits, and performance management. They will also be responsible for helping to build a cooperative and positive organizational culture and environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Human Resource Strategy, Policies, and Procedures Development and Implementation

  • Ensure all Human Resource systems, processes, and policies embody IWPR’s goal to be a diverse, inclusive, and equitable organization

  • Assist in the development, rollout and implementation of policies, benefits, and IWPR’s employee handbook

  • Take part in setting the HR strategies and goals of the organization and provide constant feedback to improve

  • Suggest changes in policies and procedures based on employee and organizations needs

  • Assist in the development and management of an effective performance appraisal review process

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to enhance employee morale, motivation, and retention.

    Human Resource Coordination

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

  • Serve as a HR ambassador helping employees and external parties with HR-related information requests

  • Manage and maintain employee records and files

  • Ensure the accuracy of timekeeping system, and administer employees leave and time-off  

  • Perform data entry in HRIS, including entering new hires, job/pay changes, terminations, and report HR department data and metrics

  • Help to administer and support annual staff survey

  • Help to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices

  • Maintains knowledge of HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Recruitment

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings

  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

  • On-boards new staff including creating schedules, reviewing benefits, key personnel policies, and other relevant information

  • Organize and manage job descriptions and announcements and makes sure all the relevant documents are up to date.

    Team building and Organizational Culture

  • Work alongside the Vice President of People and Culture to support and plan employee social activities such as staff outings and the Holiday Party. Execute various initiatives including, retreats, monthly birthday recognition, anniversary email distributions, and life event gifts

  • Conceptualize and manage special HR projects and initiatives across the organization

  • Oversee professional development and compliance training program for staff (LinkedIn Learning, Management Center, etc.)

  • And other duties as assigned

    Supervisory Responsibility

  • None

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred

  • At least 1 – 3 years of professional human resource management experience required

  • A SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus

    Position and Salary: This is an Admin II Specialist / Manager and the salary range for this position is $60,668- $75,312 based on education and experience.     Vaccine Policy: IWPR has made the safety of our staff and our surrounding community a top priority. As part of that commitment, IWPR recently implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy. This policy states that all IWPR employees, interns, fellows, (i.e.- IWPR staff) are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and to receive a booster shot. IWPR will require selected candidates to submit proof of complete vaccination against COVID-19 and having received a booster shot prior to extending a job offer. If a candidate has a qualifying medical condition that contraindicates a Covid-19 vaccination, a medical exemption form should be requested from Human Resources.
