BAYFIELD COUNTY Jailer in WASHBURN, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: To provide such duties that are required in the operation of a County jail detention facility. The jailer is required to perform his/her duties in such a manner as to insure that secure, safe and sanitary conditions exist at all times. Currently accepting applications for part-time work. Part-time positions are not eligible for benefits initially, but may become eligible for benefits depending upon the number of hours worked. Part-time positions often evolve into full-time employment opportunities. Examples of Duties: a. Booking and discharging of inmates and the proper recording of all appropriate inmate demographic information. b. Control all access to jail. c. Photograph and fingerprint all new admissions. d. Interpret and comply with all bond conditions and commitment orders. e. Allow and supervise prisoner access to educational, recreational, religious and library services. f. Allow attorneys, probation agents, clergymen, and other authorized individuals access to inmate clients, document all appropriate inmate incidents and activities, including correspondence, visitation, medication, recreation and disciplinary problems. g. Control and deliver all prescriptions and non-prescription drugs and pharmaceuticals. h. Receive bail bond monies and fine payments. i. Comply with all procedures and schedules for meals, laundry, cleaning, maintenance, inspection, and inmate activities. j. Identify and take appropriate action with all special inmates such as juveniles, females, mentally disturbed and physically ill inmates. k. Facilitate and document all huber and work release inmate departures and arrivals. l. Prevent and report all damage to jai property and jail matters. m. Maintain constant 24-hour supervision of all inmates and jail facilities. n. Run intoximeter on OWI arrests. o. Control inmates from jailer station and/or by patrolling corridors, dorms, cell blocks and work areas. p. Escort inmates (individually or in groups) to work assignments or other activities. q. Supervise inmates on work assignments. r. Inspect cells, dorms, hallways, and visitation area for contraband. s. Enforce rules of conduct by making both verbal and written reports to superiors. t. Check on sanitary conditions, fire and safety hazards. u. Assists in averting fights, riots, and escapes undertaken by inmates. v. Transfer to court, doctor, and other treatment clinics. w. Distributes cleaning and sanitation supplies; deliver commissary orders, medications and mail; picks up and delivers personal laundry and bedding for inmates. x. Operates all locking devices (manual or electronic). y. Advise public on visiting hours and supervises visiting. z. Other duties as directed by the Sheriff or designee for the efficient operation of the jail. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: a. No felony criminal convictions. b. Must possess a valid driver\'s license c. Must be 18 years of age or older d. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee is regularly required to: i. Talk ii. Hear iii. Vision: accurately view computer screen, read reports, adjust and focus both long and short distances, dept perception, distinguish faces and objects. iv. Taste v. Smell vi. Stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. b. The employee is occasionally required to: i. Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. ii. Lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Training and Certifications: (To be completed after date of hire unless already certified.) a. Completion of 160 hours Basic Jail Officers \"Training\". b. Completion of 24 hours yearly recertification for Jail Officers. c. Intoximeter Operator Certification d. T.I.M.E.
