Job Description Summary

The Polish Senior Licensing Engineer, Regulatory Affairs, based in Poland, will complete various regulatory work scopes in Poland including New Power Plant Licensing (NPPL), and work with GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas LLC (GEH) and Global Nuclear Fuels LLC (GNF) Engineering and Regulatory Affairs teams on major projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Polish Senior Licensing Engineer, Regulatory Affairs, you will perform the following for GEH reactors to be deployed in Poland:

• Participate under the direction of the Polish Licensing Manager, Regulatory Affairs, in task associated with the nuclear regulatory review process in Poland with the National Atomic Energy Agency (Państwowa Agencja Atomistyki, or PAA) in accordance with the Polish Atomic Law Act of 29 November 2000 and associated issued and draft Polish Regulations of the Council of Ministers

• Coordinate, prepare, and review input to new reactor licensing application submittals in Poland (mainly Preliminary Safety Analysis Report)

• Coordinate and prepare licensing reports including preparation of responses to customer or Polish regulator questionsInterface with customers, regulatory personnel, contractors, and industry working groups on regulatory issues, and to secure applicable permissions and approvals related to work scopes

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university or college with a proven related professional work experience

• Proven experience in performing / providing input into nuclear safety evaluations, including satisfaction of regulatory requirements for nuclear regulatory documents

• Minimal experience involving complex projects, and providing regulatory guidance and feedback to support those projects

• Excellent technical writing skills and oral communication skills in Polish and English with the ability to create technical reports suitable for a wide range of audiences

Desired Characteristics

• Proven experience with Polish nuclear requirements and guidance, including new power plant pre-application interactions with the PAA including nuclear reactor siting and deployment activities

• Working knowledge of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Nuclear Safety Standards and other nuclear safety-related IAEA publications

• Management experience in Regulatory Affairs or large engineering projects including new or operating commercial nuclear reactor facilities

• Working knowledge of boiling water reactor (BWR) systems, fuel, or operations, with specific experience with Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) or Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (ESBWR) engineering or licensing desired

• Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in working / communicating with nuclear regulators

• Experience working with nuclear industry groups

• International licensing experience

• Effective interpersonal and facilitation skills

• Process skills related to coordinating and documenting complex technical documents

• Externally focused: takes action to enhance the reputation of the company / represents the company well at all opportunities

• Clear thinker: communicates messages clearly and concisely with the ability to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on the best available information / ability to sift through complex information and focus on critical few priorities

• Assess potential impacts of regulatory landscape on business and customers

• Strong business and financial acumen

• Ability to work effectively with technical leaders
