Citigroup Global Head of Operations- Payment Risk and Control in Warsaw, Poland

The TTS Ops Global Payments Risk & Control Head / TTS Ops Poland CSC Site head will be responsible for the successful execution of the global payments risk and control strategy as well as manage the day-to-day operations of the Poland branch.

The TTS Ops CSC Site head ensures their branch complies with all policies and control frameworks relevant for CEP. In addition, Branch Heads will ensure compliance with all local regulatory requirements, and also ensure capabilities are in place to report all necessary information to CEP to comply with Joint Supervisory Team (JST) requirements. This is a critical leadership role that will enable TTS to align with the enterprise-wide risk transformation approach creating consistency and efficiency across the bank.

Key Responsibilities include

Responsibilities – Payments Risk and Controls

  • Responsible for managing payment and card risk teams globally

  • Manage the risk and controls within the payment Operations lifecycle. Ensure known issues are captured with action plans

  • Ensure the Payment Ops MCA appropriately captures the Risks, Controls and severity

  • Overall responsibility for leading the operational risk events cycle, which includes the capture, escalation and management of operational risk events

  • Lead business level programs to address themes of operational risks events and to prescribe preventative and detective controls to prevent reoccurrence, including advocating and working with product to fund changes.

  • Work with business, operations and technology, and any unit responsible for a control (URC) that lead to an Operational Risk Event to ensure remedial actions are taken, included in thematic programs addressing causes and track progress

  • Shape and define governance model for global payment Ops risk that covers sub product and cluster oversight

  • Lead in operational risk event reduction senior forums, working groups and committees

  • Development of business level procedures that makes sure that Operational Risk Data is captured consistently and timely in the Loss Capture System (LCS) and ORE Central

  • Prepare reports for senior management

  • Support stakeholders and provide guidance on escalation of operational risk events to make sure that actions can be taken that reduce or avoid the impact of these events, and to inform other stakeholders, in line with Citi Escalation Policy

  • Provides control advice and guidance to Payment Ops organization

  • Communicates guidance and training of new requirements

  • Identify and raise issues within the business. Mitigates those risks and ensures appropriate approval and visibility within the organization.

  • Create and track Key Risk Indicators, metric triggers and thresholds in order to identify and communicate any emerging issues and develop action plans with the business owners.

  • Stays current in understanding existing risks and analysis of emerging risks across the business

Responsibilities – CSC Site Lead for TTS Ops

  • As the Poland TTS CSC Site Head, the selected candidate will lead and drive the CSC strategy and priorities across Warsaw & Olsztyn Sites, with 1.2K employees

  • Key responsibilities as the Poland TTS CSC site head will include:

  • Site Governance - lead CSC management and governance meetings,

  • Represent the TTS CSC as a key member of the Citi Poland in Country Management Team and any other In-country forums, where presence is necessary

  • Lead Poland TTS CSC in any cross-CSCs Global/ Cluster forums

  • Talent & Culture - leading cross-site TTS CSC talent and culture strategy, champion diversity efforts, drive positive VOE

  • Strengthen Poland TTS Operations Center leadership bench, ensure it runs on best practices across the entire CSC, and aligned into the overall Citi framework.

  • Employee Engagement - Lead TTS CSC site-wide employee engagement activities and events

  • Communications - oversee all periodic TTS CSC publications content and delivery, host townhalls, mentor and support key talent

  • Will need to manage the complexities of providing Administrative Leadership, in a highly regulated local environment, for the TTS Ops In-Country + Cluster + Global support on behalf of the stakeholders across all our major Products & Services – Payments, Trade, Onboarding, Sanctions, Regulatory Reporting, CitiService, Business Execution, Risk & Controls and Reconciliations.

  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, peers on Executive Management, government, suppliers, etc. to ensure correct focus and direction for the TTS CSC Operations

  • Execute strategy to mitigate external risks or requests raised through Government Affairs or Community Affairs. Implement consistent and comprehensive management oversight processes.

  • In the context of providing On-ground Horizontal leadership that supports the Primary efforts by Functional owners of their Teams based in Poland TTS CSC, by identifying and sponsoring the development opportunities for key individuals in the Warsaw/ Olsztyn sites, that help them gain broad exposure and experience. Influence organization initiatives to develop talent, knowledge and refine skills of organization. Modeling positive reward and recognition behavior consistently. Provide ground level support in Recruiting Top Local talent, and commit to their development. Ensure diverse Local talent pipeline at all levels.

  • Appropriately assess & provide critical inputs pertaining to Local Regulatory, Geopolitical, Legal, Human Capital & Financial risk, when Functional decisions are made at Global/ Cluster level, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi Franchise and Our clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable Local laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Skills Requirement

  • 15+ years of experience in financial services

  • Ability to manage through influence to drive implementation across a global organization (e.g. management in the absence of reporting lines)

  • Knowledge of business-related products and/or processes, specially related to Operational Risk Events, Loss Capture System Reporting and policy requirements

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills required.

  • Track record leading Control related projects and programs.

  • Strong, influential communicator who is articulate and concise, demonstrated success interacting with senior leaders both in the business, corporate functions as well as the Operations, Business and Technology environments

  • Exemplary thought leadership skills; able to build and lead strategic initiatives

  • Strong risk management and control mindset, experience working with regulators and government entities

  • Ability to represent and manage expectations of external stakeholders; instils confidence in the company

  • Demonstrated experience leading people and developing effective and diverse teams.

  • Strong understanding of the local talent market, and ability to drive talent attraction and retention in a growing site.

  • Ability to define and embed culture; build and market the organization's brand; communicate enterprise-wide priorities

  • Experience building collaboration and synergies across enterprise-wide businesses and functions

  • Experience in working with and within a matrix organization and cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in financial planning processes, including budgeting and forecasting

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred.
