DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The Senior Patient Information Specialist works in close collaboration with the Registration Supervisor and Revenue Cycle Business Office Manager. Assists in overseeing of Emergency Department registration duties and training of new hires. Provides for the efficient and orderly admission of patients and residents directly, via physician office or through the Emergency Department. Responsible for registering patients and residents for diagnostic procedures, outpatient services, ASU procedures and other applicable services. The Senior Patient Information Specialist will share on call responsibilities with the Registration Supervisor. This position will serve as the primary source of information regarding patient demographics, insurance coverage, primary and specialist physician information and is responsible for the smooth transition of that information throughout the communication lines of the healthy system.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma AND seven (7) years of patient registration experience, hospital preferred.
