Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer's Treatment Plant Operator in Warren, Ohio
SUMMARY: Under general supervision, operates sewage treatment plant, and sludge disposal equipment in wastewater (sewage) treatment plant to control flow and processing of sewage by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
40% Monitors control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewage. Inspects facility on scheduled basis to ensure proper operation of plant and equipment.
20% Starts and stops pumps, motors, and other equipment to control flow of raw sewage through settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes. Performs preventative and service maintenance of equipment and facility (i.e. cleans, lubricates, repairs).
10% Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and tests results to determine operation requirements. Operates process control equipment and controls the transfer of sludge from settling tanks.
10% Maintains log of operations and records, meter and gauge readings. Documents any equipment failures, power outages and/or repairs as needed.
10% Collects sewage sample and conducts routine laboratory tests. Cleans equipment; skims scum and grease from settling tanks; cleans bar screens; and other plant equipment.
5% Performs other related duties as required. Assists chief Operator and directs non-supervisory employees as needed. Performs snow removal when required.
5% Records and maintains logs for sewer and water complaints from the public. Calls in crews to perform on work projects. Responsible for calling out work crews in responding to complaints.
