About the Position: This position is under the control of ILSC, Supply Chain Integration Directorate Demand Planning Division. Responsibilities Executes the demand planning program for a complex portfolio of weapons systems and/or component piece parts. Evaluates and synthesizes analysis provided to resolve difficult demand planning issues involving processes, work methods, supply data management, and day-to-day operational procedures for assigned secondary items. Develops options to allow for differing or conflicting program requirements that cover multiple supply objectives including inventory management for assigned commodities. Supports supply chain management integration across the IPS Elements to optimize repair parts (Class II and IX) for system suitability, affordability, reliability, availability, maintainability. Provides demand planning, forecasting program, and process interpretations and recommendations to management officials and other supply specialists at the same and lower levels of the organization. Validates higher headquarters planning at the National Item Identification Number (NIIN) level, program level planning assumptions, return and demand history, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) requirements. Provides direct support to the Supply Planner regarding validation and correction of independent demand forecasts and generates forecast(s) reflecting all known planning assumptions to support monthly analysis and reporting operations. Monitors the status and effectiveness of material support provided as a result of forecasting techniques by identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems. Uses Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to review demand history, apply demand plan adjustments, and generate forecasts. Coordinates with various stakeholders such as the weapon system team and the systems analysts to maintain complete and correct demand material master coding in the ERP system by submitting change requests to the material master cell. To qualify applicants must possess on one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level GS-11. Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Performing a full range of Demand Planning, to include determination, validation, and verification of all requirements; 2) Analyzing forecast requirements of all required secondary items to support the customer as required at the lowest total life cycle cost; and 3) Formulating a forecasting strategy, to review its effectiveness and develop recommendations to specific problems in order to improve efficiency. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
