Partnering with the Manager, Maintenance & Engineering, Corporate Engineering and the Plant Leadership Team, the Engineering & Reliability Specialist is responsible for ensuring coordination between projects, suppliers, manufacturing and the business to ensure that reliability standards are followed during daily plant operations and capital projects in order to reduce equipment Mean Time Between Failure

The successful candidate can expect to be involved in capital project planning, FATs, SATs, deliver vertical startups, develop Job Plans, develop and perform Predictive Maintenance Routes, provide training and coaching to the Production and Maintenance organization.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Organize and carry out all necessary trials and tests to ensure project success with production, suppliers and R&D.

  • Partners with Corporate Engineering to prepare the supplier selection bid package, request for quotation, work with corporate purchasing to manage the supplier selection process.

  • Partners with Corporate Engineering to ensure the internal capital approval request procedures regarding approval, purchase orders, and review variances actual vs. budget throughout the project, forecast and report cash flow and variance have been followed. Manage any changes using documented change orders.

  • Partners with Corporate Engineering to ensure good quality planning, risk analysis, budget, resource identification, and layout studies are complete and accurate.

  • Utilize all methodologies of project management: Frequent Project meetings with minutes and action lists; Communication within the company about project content and progress. Involve plant resources from the early phases as future customers in quality, safety, production and maintenance. Shows a customer service-oriented mindset in executing projects.

  • Partners with Corporate Engineering to ensure that the following milestones are respected throughout the project: provisional acceptance, I/O check-out, equipment site acceptance test, electrical test, water test, commissioning, final acceptance.

  • Follow the execution of the project and ensure the coordination between projects, suppliers, manufacturing, and the business recognizing safety and quality are key priorities. Recognize Scope, Deliverables, Timeline and Budget are always to be respected.

  • Measure project progress at start-up using a punch-list to ensure maximum supplier accountability.

  • Leads proactive problem-solving efforts for manufacturing processes.

  • Partners with Corporate Engineering and plant teams to troubleshoot and resolve process equipment issues, diagnoses technical problems and determines short-term and long-term solutions.

  • Conducts plant floor walk-throughs and/or participates on teams that focus on Continuous Improvement within the manufacturing area. Expected to provide visibility to issues or concerns that arise from engineering projects and/or manufacturing teams.

  • Monitor and update Asset Tree within the CMMS

  • Strictly comply to current PMO and FDA regulations as well as all OSHA regulations in force.

  • Facilitates weekly Breakdown Analysis and coordinates Preventative Maintenance Change Requests.

  • Partners with local Maintenance Organization to develop, Preventative Maintenance plans.

  • Obtain equipment vibration information, analyze data, and submit Work Requests based on findings.

  • Provide supervision to contract personnel and technical direction to mechanical personnel during installation/repairs of rotating or reciprocating equip.

  • Identify and follow through on reliability enhancement recommendations.

  • Develop detailed work scopes on all rotating and reciprocating.

  • Initiate maintenance work orders on required repairs based on analysis and findings.

  • Respond to routine and emergency troubleshooting requests from Operations and Maintenance personnel.

  • Ability to understand the intricacies of rotating equipment and their subsystems.

  • Have the experience & knowledge to diagnose equipment problems through vibration data analysis, and develop the means in which to rectify those problems.

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred, or 10+ years of work experience in Manufacturing required

  • Food manufacturing experience required, dairy manufacturing preferred

  • Working knowledge of ammonia systems

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiar with the following trades: Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Utilities, and Construction.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Financial and budgetary skills

  • Ability to prioritize and support projects in a changing, complex environment

  • Strong organizational skills and proven attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekend, holidays, or late shifts, during installation periods.

  • Working knowledge of SAP

Salary Description

$70,000 - $80,000
