Position Summary:

The Sr. Finance Manager will be responsible for driving and managing key operating mechanism for the Microbial Manufacturing Services (MMS) business. These responsibilities include annual operating plans, annual strategic plans, quarterly/monthly business review, forecasting, communication of business risks/associated mitigations, and M&A/capacity expansion activities. You will work closely with the General Manager and the leadership team to execute strategic and tactical plans to drive organic revenue growth and profitability to meeting business objectives. Financial oversight includes the Carlsbad, CA manufacturing site and external (3rd Party) manufacturing in Watertown, MA. Key Responsibilities:

As a key member of the MMS leadership team, this position will provide financial oversight to support sound decision making in order to achieve business objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Financial oversight of a start-up business; expected to be fast-growing, achieving $300M+ over the next five years.

  • Principal finance partner for the General Manager and other G&A support functions (HR, Legal, and IT).

  • Establish and continuously evolve reporting cadences to adapt to the business need, providing holistic view of financial, commercial and operational performance on regular basis.

  • Lead all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial processes including results reporting and package consolidation, planning/forecasting, strategic planning, and analytics activities.

  • Participate in monthly reviews with ATx Leadership to clearly articulate risk and opportunities as well as overall performance compared to targets.

  • Partner with ATx global resources including Controller and Commercial Finance in support of achieving MMS’ business objectives; gain a holistic view of the business including commercial and manufacturing operations.

  • Demonstrate FP&A leadership with timely, accurate, and value-added information.

  • Collaborate with the Arranta Bio to maintain strong partnership while adhering to the contractual obligations set forth in the governing agreement.

  • P&L and cash flow management with a focus on top and bottom line expansion, risk and opportunities management/mitigation, and working capital execution.

  • Responsible for return on investment analysis within the business and develop financial scenarios and models to ensure sound investment decision recommendations and performance (e.g. Capital Allocation, Acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives).

  • Lead the business’ data strategy as we build out our analytics and business intelligence strategy and provide users with meaningful information to drive decision making.

  • Drive a continuous improvement approach with a focus on process automation, enhancing processes, and elevating business partner support where applicable.

  • Foster a culture of diversity and inclusion and be a role model leader for the core set of values in the organization: integrity, intensity, innovation, and involvement.

  • Support other initiatives, special projects, requests, and ad-hoc financial analysis as required.

Frequent Contacts:


  • Regularly interacts with internal and external executive level management requiring negotiating of critical matters to the finance strategy of the company. The role has significantly influence on the business results and is influencing companywide policy development.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or other relevant analytical background (CPA, Chartered Accountant, MBA or equivalent is a plus).

  • Minimum 6 years of related experience in financial and operational analysis, reporting and accounting leadership within a large, professionally managed operating company (preference for people with a high amount of experience within Thermo Fisher Scientific, similar companies, or the pharmaceutical industry).

  • Experience leading diverse global financial consolidations in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Exceptional analytical ability.

  • Proven track record of collaborating cross-functionally to connect teams to drive effective teamwork and speed.

  • Track record of consolidating financial results for the purpose of FP&A activities.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and decision support analysis to enable solid, tactical execution of business decisions.
