Thermo Fisher Scientific Finance Manager in Waltham, Massachusetts

How you’ll make an impact!

The individual will work with the Director, Finance – eBusiness and Leasing to drive Thermo Fisher Scientific’s financial planning and analysis across our eBusiness team. The eBusiness team is part of the Digital Commerce (DC) organization. The Finance Manager is an important member of the finance organization and will own both revenue and cost analytics, and provide timely and accurate decision support and reporting to ensure sound financial operations. The ideal candidate has a proven track record as an experienced high potential talent demonstrating drive, ambition, financial and analytical acuity, and intelligence.

This position will partner with the DC Finance leadership team and eBusiness Leadership team by bringing strong capabilities in forecasting and analysis, trend identification, and insight generation to support impactful reporting, along with efficient process management. They will link to finance colleagues across the Global IT Finance team and the Digital Engineering Finance team to ensure alignment financially and around core results for Corporate FP&A.

Providing FP&A support to eBusiness around monthly/quarterly reporting, and planning/forecasting mechanisms. Completing key month-end close processes, variance analysis, and post-close reporting for revenue, operating expenses, capital spending, and headcount. Maintaining and producing the weekly revenue report with insightful commentary supported by analytics for senior management. Delivering operational improvements to drive efficiency and customer ease of use. Support building the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), long range strategic forecasting (STRAP), Quarterly Business Review (QBR) and Monthly Business Review (MBR).

  • Financial Domain: Proficiency in the following areas: financial analysis and reporting, forecasting, process controls, and accounting knowledge specifically related to capitalization of software development activities.

  • Process Acuity: Excellent skills with MS Excel (management and synthesis of large data sets) and MS PowerPoint (compelling storytelling), along with Oracle, HFM, and COGNOS (financial system aptitude).

  • Adaptability: Ability to work cross-functionally with individuals and teams from different areas and drive continuous operational improvement in daily activities.

  • Innovative: Challenges the status quo of core processes and uses prior finance experience to drive innovative solutions and daily efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Finance or Accounting role.
