Finance Manager – Pharma and Applied Corporate Accounts

This posting is to support the Pharma and Applied Corporate Accounts segment. This role is responsible for driving business decisions through effective analysis and communication with the Corporate Accounts Leadership team and the Thermo Fisher Scientific Finance team. It is critical that this role builds solid relationships and remain closely connected to all Commercial Finance teams to improve analysis and ultimately results for the total company.

What you’ll do

Our Finance team contributes ideas that improve our performance and advance company-wide strategy. Finance is directly linked to the health of Thermo Fisher Scientific, and our work allows our business and functional leaders to make the educated, sound decisions that drive our mission and make us a stable, trusted organization. As a Finance Manager, you will be a key member of the Corporate Accounts Pharma and Applied team with business partnering activities, including deal modeling, trend analysis and monthly/quarterly reporting and forecasting. You will directly partner with commercial executives supporting 80 Pharma and Applied accounts with combined revenues $2B to achieve short- and long-term objectives! You will report to the Sr. Finance Manager of Global Biopharma & Pharma and Applied, Corporate Accounts and will be expected to provide thought leadership and advance process and innovation. In addition, you will:

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Business Partnering & Commercial Strategy Development

  • Lead the development of corporate-wide proposals and incentives structured to gain customer share of wallet. Review proposals with cross-divisional commercial and finance leadership to ensure support of the program. Track progress against the incentive programs and communicate results to the Divisions.

  • Actively participate in key business decisions and contract reviews/negotiations including customer and executive presentations.

  • Ensure stakeholder and customer requirements are prioritized, established, and met throughout the year.

  • Support commercial partners with the strategic account planning and prioritization process by analyzing current business relationships and identifying and quantifying potential new areas of business. Support the evaluation of accounts for addition to the Corporate Accounts program.

  • Employ creative thinking to tackle customer challenges and meet business objectives. Support commercial partners with trade off analysis, opportunity assessment and business context.

  • Provide customer facing material as needed.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Establish and improve performance measurements to assist with business evaluation and decision-making. Ensure the accurate compilation, timely reporting, and analysis of data.

  • Analyze and report on commercial programs, customer, and division activity (revenue, profitability, savings/value delivered) on a monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc basis.

  • Partner with the Sr. Finance Manager in owning the annual operating plan and quarterly forecast processes for Pharma and Applied accounts including calculation of Corporate Incentive rebates. Continuously improve closing, planning, forecasting, and other financial processes to inform commercial activity and decision making.

  • Perform quarterly financial analysis on Pharma and Applied customers quarterly earnings results and provide insights to commercial leaders for Partnership Account Plans.

  • Own the results and understand revenue drivers, incentive structures and provide forecast to commercial and finance organizations.

  • Participates in project support as needed.

Enterprise Wide Incentive Process Ownership

  • Actively engage cross functionally with commercial teams, divisional partners, and Corporate Accounts leadership team for feedback to iterate and improve upon process.

  • This role will be based in Pittsburgh, PA

The Successful Candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or other relevant area

  • At least 5-7 years of direct experience in financial analysis and reporting preferably within a large, matrixed organization

  • Advanced analytical capabilities with proven financial modeling skills utilizing MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Oracle

  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • The ability to develop high levels of credibility and forge strong professional relationships with peers and upper management

  • The ability to keep an eye toward continuous improvement with a successful track record of optimizing processes

  • Comfortability in a deadline driven environment with minimal repeating tasks

  • You can balance multiple projects and execute them optimally

  • You are self-motivated with a bias for action.

  • A high level of integrity and ethics

  • Collaborative working style.

  • Knowledge of Tableau, PowerBI, and COGNOS a plus
